We won't get the opportunity at all, thank f**k. Melbourne have a better team than us, as do the Panthers. And while the Storm shat the bed against Canberra there's no guarantee they would've done the same against us next week. We've finally had some luck. Let's hope we don't piss our knickers next week.
You could say we got lucky and unlucky on the same night.

Avoided Melbourne but possibly end up being the only finals team to travel to Townsville in the finals. If we progress next week.

So having our best player out isn’t a significant factor? Surely you can accept that it weakens our team?

Having Moses out is a weakness, but its an orchestrated weakness by Jake's father as for Jake to get the rails run as the #1 back up. Penrith on the other hand go out and purchase an experienced 7 in Osullivan. No team can win a finals game with a 7 with zero athleticism, can't kick and can't defend.
Yes we will be disastrously weak without Moses but that's because BA was arrogant at providing proper back up.

It’s stupid to think that we could magically have a replacement that’s even close to Moses in skill and ability. Even if it was someone better than JA we are going to struggle enormously.

Sullivan is a better player than JA, but he isn’t a patch on Cleary who is also better than Moses. Take Cleary out of their side and they are very beatable in the finals.

Canberra must of found some resources in the past week, the Rickster is a wily operator.

Agree. Take anyone's halfback out in finals and they are going to struggle. Only side who have an average halfback but have then spent more in great forwards and backs can get away with games if their average halfback was out.

But our halfback is expensive and a huge part of our success. As is Penriths. We have an average bench cause our spine takes up so much cash.

I remember the last time we signed a decent back up half, not many took kindly too it….he wasn’t good enough..,

Luckily Lamb didn’t last very long to become our next scapegoat…

It will be quite ironic if we're at full strength next week and we get done over by our former back up half Jamal Fogarty next week.

It is interesting who the back up halves are at all the clubs.
Panthers - Sean O'Sullivan, then Jaeman Salmon and Kurt Falls as other options
Cowboys - Ben Hampton, but it is more likely that Drinkwater is moved from Fullback, with either the Hammer or Val Holmes put into Fullback, and the other playing centre.
Sharks - Connor Treacy (who is on the wing) or Brayden Trindall
Storm - Cooper Johns or Tyran Wishart
Souths - Kodi Nikorima, Dean Hawkins or Blake Taaffe
Roosters - Drew Hutchison or Adam Keighran
Raiders - Matt Frawley, Brad Shneider (Sam Williams retired mid season)
Broncos - Albert Kelly, Tyson Gamble or Tyrone Roberts
Dragons - Jayden Sullivan or Moses Mbye
Manly - Josh Schuster or Dylan Walker
Dogs - Brandon Wakeham, Bailey Biondi-Odo or Zac Docker Clay
Newcastle - Jake Clifford or Phoenix Crossland
Warriors - Likely move Walsh into the halves, but Ash Taylor was bought as the back up half before retiring
Titans - Tanah Boyd and Paul Turner
Tigers - Jock Madden and Nu Brown, but have three halves in their first choice 17 (Douehi, Brooks and Hastings)

It is obviously subjective, but some of these players aren't probably considered better than our back up half Jake Arthur.

However, what is telling, is that we are the only club in the NRL, who's only back up option for either position in the halves, without weakening another position, is essentially a Jersey Flegg eligible player. In fact, no other club has a half in the bowels of their depth chart who is still eligible for Jersey Flegg.

This for mine, is a disgraceful decision to allow this situation to occur, and in my view is almost a sackable offence for those in charge of recruitment and retention.

I think when he didn't want to move to Queensland last year, his cards were marked for a Top 30 contract renewal. Although he wasn't really part of any plans prior to that in any case.

He is likely being paid a decent amount more than the minimum wage to work in development and captain/coach reserve grade this year. Why would he bother?
