But what was the actualy point you were trying to make....?
Like I said at the start; making the eight is a low bar, and every team would set their pre-season goals at least that high.
From "they don't care if eight other teams miss the finals" - given we've established that will be out of date for next year's 17 team season, and it's impossible from next season for only seven other teams to miss the finals.
Well you're right that making the eight is a high bar for all 16 teams. In fact it's impossibly high because only eight of them can do it. But for a single team, not caring about the other 15 (or even 16, next year), making the eight is a low bar. They are fighting for only one of eight spots. Shit teams sneak into the eight every year. Every shit team will be thinking they're a chance. They know eight/nine will miss out, but they won't be intending for themselves to be one of them.
I'm not assuming your the problem... just questioning your logic when it isn't clearly expressed as you think, or is simply opinion presented as if indisputable fact.
If you can't verify it yourself, take it as opinion. If you don't believe me the first time, asking me for more words isn't going to convince you.

Thanks, that's pretty much what I'd said.

It's not a case of believing or not believing you or being convicned - but asking for more words so that you can express what you were trying to (and perhaps thought you had) a little more clearly, so it makes sense.

Not really smart from Cleary though was it? He could've gotten more from a weaker club, especially if they also signed his dad.

So? He now has two premierships. He may have another few before careers up. Imagine winning 3 or 4 titles and winning more time then not for 10yrs over a career like Luke Brooks has had.
Sure he may have a few extra pennies but one will be 50 and think how great his life was in those years while the other will always be thinking what if or I wish I had....

The mind is a powerfull tool. But I know which guys will have a smile when he thinks back to his career and which one will probably leak and need to wipe his balls from a dribble of sadness

People are all excited about the Bulldogs. I think they can go well. My issue for them would be they lost Vaughn and Marshal King who the back end of year played very well. And are good defensively. They've also lost Josh Jackson who again is a great defender.
Mahoney and Kikau are huge upgrades in attack but not defense. I am unsure how they will improve their defense is the issue.
That and Burton being locked in as a superstar. If he did get injured they are in trouble.

I actualy like the Tigers squad. I think the forward pack could be one of the better ones in the NRL. I'd have to look at the whole squad again but for me they have a nice build happening and am unsure why a lot of other fans are laughing.
Korisau is far better then Reed. Papali'i cost 200k less then Kikau. Add the Pommy,Twal,Stefano and if Blore can stay fit.

rheed is a good defender only small. His numbers are good but people seem to only remember when he gets toppled over like a bowling pin.

I disagree. One on one close to the line he is a bowling pin. Korisau mises a lot of tackles where he gets bumped also but is capable of chopping a guy down one on one with a legs tackle.
Reed goes high all the time. Doesn't stop the legs. Does a lot of tackles but he isn't dominant in the tackle amd the attacker always is on the front foot.

his numbers aren’t bad and he’s always targeted. I guess it doesn’t help when he’s asked to play 80 mins week in week out. He also provides great line speed and energy to our d line.

Watmough changed this club with his hard nose attitude mate. What he did behind the scenes was brilliant 👏
What he taught the young blokes was fantastic, f**k off home straight after training and stay home. It got them ready for Bea’s brilliant strategy leading up to the GF.

If we lose Brown or Moses heads should roll it’s as simple as that, we’d already lost Mahoney they should of been made top priority.

The idiots in charge thought extending Captain Bald was going to be a silver bullet lol. When even the coaches Pet Guth decided to bend the club over you can really see how much “the boys love playing for BA”

Instead we have one of the undeserving players I’ve ever seen in an Eels jersey get yet another extension. Bu but but but “BeA hAd No SaY i🌫

I wonder how he went with Barrett as his coach. That may be the deciding factor.
Yeah, I think Barrett may be behind this for us. I think Allen was on 500k. So we'd be getting him for dirt cheap. I like it. I don't think he'll go to Manly he'll be competing for a backline spot with Saab, Garrick, Koula, Harper, Parker and Tuipulotu.

If we can bag one a F.Brown type of utility and Taupau I think we're set for next year.
  1. Gutherson
  2. Sivo
  3. Allen
  4. Penisini
  5. Blake/Dunster/Russell
  6. Brown
  7. Moses
  8. Campbell-Gillard
  9. Hodgson
  10. Paulo
  11. Lane
  12. Murchie
  13. Matterson
  14. F.Brown
  15. Taupau
  16. Hopgood
  17. Momoisea/Rodwell/Makatoka/Ogden/Doorey
The last bench spot and the right-wing spot goes to whoever performs best in the off-season. Competing for spots is only going to make players better.

When did this turn into a porn site!

Back to the Rumors. I would be happy with Allan as a center option next year.

I thought he was going to be a great pick up for the Dogs but his form fell off a cliff when he landed at Belmore... Might be worth another chance so long as the Dogs pay half his 2023 salary and he's not expecting the same salary in 2024 on...

I would be trying to offload Blake and Unless Simonson can improve let him go after next year.

I doubt we will go after a 14.
