No... I know his history well but smart and driven people learn and adjust and the list of successful players and coaches that have named him among the smartest football brains the game has is impressive...in fact I cannot think of a single highly credentialed judge of the game to call him stupid...clubs are comprised of hardheaded human beings and sometimes professional relationships ( whi h affect results) just don't work out....having the coaching staff and senior players on the same wavelength is a good start...we have had enough examples of where that not being the case has torpedoed us.
I think we are discussing an unknown at the moment, the guy is in his 70’s and hasn’t coached in the NRL for more than a decade, this will no doubt be his last hooray, but I really hope he makes it work for us.
But, I’m not a believer yet.

In case anyone missed it, here is Andrew Johns and Fittler talking about Brook's game. I think their response gives us some hope, 'a big fish' or 'a top line player' and 'hasn't reached his potential' wow, some interesting descriptions there, even the non believers would have to agree.

Taking some responsibility away from him and letting him use his speed and instinct.

Brooks will have the best (arguably) hooker in the game feeding him the ball, behind a fearsome forward pack and the best second rower in the game running lines off him.

I have a feeling we are gonna see a very dangerous Brooksy in 2023

Sheens may be smart but he hasn't had much success since leaving the nrl, all well and good to have a big brain but at the end of the day results is all we care about and his have been lacking. Re Benji, he may go on to be the best coach we've ever had and I hope he is but it's a low percentage play.

With all that said, the dye has been cast now so all we can do is hope they do well.

I know all you die hard Brooks bashers will say I'm crazy but I agree with Joey. By the way Brad Fittler is sitting alongside Johns and nodding in agreement to everything he says.
Those two dopey bum f**ks started the narrative about Luke before he’d even proven a thing. They have since blamed everyone around him, creating a second narrative that still gets regurgitated today.

I really don't understand all this anger pointed at Sheens.

We finished last after years of pathetic recruitment. All the commentators could talk about was what a basket case we were with no hope of change for a very long time if ever.

We can now observe a rebuild taking place at a much faster rate than I ever dreamed of. Sheens is not looking to the glory of a Premiership in two years. He hasn't even taken it on to extend his career as coach. He has taken it on because it is what the club needed right now.

To rip into Benji before he even has the job as coach is pretty harsh.

We were in such a mess we really had to try something out of the box. Let's give it a go and see what happens.
Sheens wrote this season off when we were only halfway through it and showing some signs that we weren’t going to meekly roll over.
Sacked the coach, assuming he’d convinced another to join us , only for that other to publically humiliate us. He then installed a green horn and threw him to the wolves, not only providing f**k all support, but then taking able bodied players out of his rotation when he was facing a terrible list of injuries.
He has appointed a guy who has never coached to be his successor and is currently signing guys who played their best footy 3+ years ago.
I don’t trust him one iota.

Why do you think I like cops?
Id put them on a similar level to scum.
You’ve been too quiet in the “battle of brooksy”

You’ve “turned for Tim”

Silence is taking sides.

You were calling for Hastings to be club captain before he left the uk but not with the fekking knights!

You’ve been gotten to, haven’t you?!

Hastings is the only guy who has worn our jersey in the past 10 years that understands how to play football. The only one who is a proper on field leader…..and we cut his contract short. We are f**ked in the head.
Brooks is a turd and even behind an international forward pack, will struggle. Doueihi isn’t a 5/8ths arsehole and Laurie only plays when he can be bothered.
Next year will see a decent pack make good territory week after week only to see chances squandered by our average arse backs.

I agree with Stryker, but having said that, I didn't expect us to completely overhaul our roster in one off season.

I hear Newcastle wants to move the wonderchild to 6 but has no fullback options.

I wouldnt be against releasing Laurie to go up there and to play Stains at FB here.

Also, Nofo is a very expensive winger, surely we could pick someone out of the "World" cup to replace him on less.

Then spend the money on a decent Centre.

My thoughts are that we keep the backline and halves as they currently are. It's easy enough to excuse poor performances when playing behind a beaten pack week in week out, but with the addition of Bateman (and possibly another forward) we will quickly learn which players in the 1-7 need to be moved on.

I still think Laurie is a keeper, but I’d like Charlie to get a shot at fb at some point.
