Absolutely BS most of them are not RL related, they are pokie den related, or brisbane suburb related, or mainly aircraft carrier related all to put shit on anything Sydney RL club related, so no PR, he is very tedious... plus having idiots on Ignore just derails the thread on your reading as you skip related info when scrolling thru... it just becomes annoying unignoring the posts... as for you siding with his unrelentless rants its pitiful that youve had to stoop so low to get your anti pokie den agenda out there, that you'd befriend Grotd and his "anti sydney" opinions
befriend? Its not the playground! I have strong views on pokies and the misery they cause, I dont like that our game remains so dependent on them when it doesn't need to be. I dont like Vlandys and think hes actually dangerous for the game as has been proven with the shocking tv deal and his excuse for that. I dont believe we need to cut clubs to expand, but I dont think we should sit on our hands re expansion because some clubs cant cut the mustard.

But again its not about me, its a discussion board, discuss, put forward your opinion or view, back it up with argument. This tedious personal attacks on posters is just boring for everyone, spams up the threads and just makes those doing it look total tools.

anyway back to the WA Bears.

Okay back to the WA Bears. I hope the Bears are kind and give Perth a trial and one NRL game against the Titans.

And while we are at it, you hate Sydney clubs as you see them as a barrier to a Perth team, you hate pokies because they provide revenue to the Sydney clubs you hate, you hate V’landys because of his comments about perth, and you hate horse racing because you hate V’landys. Pretty simple really.

I honestly don't see what the Bears can offer Perth and the NRL that cannot be gained by a Perth-based consortium. The proposal put forward by North Sydney would cause problems for the NRL and the game in Perth.

If an existing NRL club wanted to sell its licence to a Perth-based consortium then that could work, but it won't happen while the ARLC is paying each club $16m per annum.

I’m interested to know what your view is of Sydney clubs such as Cronulla.

Theres def some things the ns bears can offer, and a joint bid in the right circumstances would have a very good chance of being major nrl club from day one. The issue isn’t what they offer, it’s what they want for that.
As I’ve explained before a NS bears playing some games in perth would be the very worse outcome for a new club in WA. id go as far as to say we’d be better off waiting another ten years for an nrl club than accepting that.

a rebranded west coast bears, fully based in perth and owned by perth people whilst having clear links back to ns club development pathways, and ns bears having assurances about their brand protection could be very succesful.

but that’s clearly not on the table from the bears point of view so better we say thanks but no thanks and have a WC Pirates or Reds admitted owned by the WA consortium and backed by the WA govt with clear development links with nrlwa.

One of the advantages listed by the NSWRL fans is the alleged access to juniors from North Sydney Bears' catchment.

I'm not convinced that the juniors playing in the North Sydney catchment will offer much to a team that's based in Perth. Those that are any good will get snapped up by other Sydney clubs. They will accept the offer from the Sydney clubs because it will provide them with the luxury of playing first grade without having to move away from home.

This is just one of the many problems caused by having nine teams in Sydney without a draft system. Clubs from non-heartland states will have difficulty recruiting talent. Storm got around this by News Ltd limiting Queensland to just two teams after the peace deal and acquiring the man who turned out to be the bestever coach when they had a couple of lean seasons in the early 2000s.

If there were five or six clubs in Sydney then more juniors would need to move to an interstate club for a shot at first grade. Everything in our game has been set up to give the Sydney clubs an advantage and it is holding back true expansion.

I think what it would do is give the wc bears a base in Sydney for scouting talented nsw kids and allowing them to develop without leaving home.
What happens to them when they hit 17 is another story. Storm have done a good job in that regards in qlnd and those kids could have stayed in qlnd with any of the three clubs But they moved down to Melbourne.

there will always be more kids in nsw than fresh spots on rosters, sure it will be a challenge and something like the afls old relocation cap relief for clubs like perth and warriors wouldn’t go amiss to counterbalance the advantage Sydney and qlnd clubs have.

In the Storm's case they were only competing with one team from Brisbane, one from the Gold Coast and one from Townsville. Melbourne is also a larger city with a bigger profile. They also got lucky because the Broncos let their guard down.

I cannot see too many talented kids from Sydney getting overlooked by the city's nine clubs or choosing to move to the otherside of the country unless they have no other choice.

this is a fair post.

I don't like clubs relying on pokies either. I know people who have worked in hospitality and gaming and they have told me how depressing it is to watch someone shovel hundreds of dollars into pokie machines till 4am in the morning like a zombie. Most clubs seem to be diversifying their revenue streams and looking at other way to make money which is a good start.

The thinking behind it you'd guess is that there's potentially "tens of thousands" of bears fans already in Sydney that would presumably become members of the new club attending games in Sydney, buying merchandise and watching on TV etc.

I don't think many of them will support the team if it ain't the North Sydney Bears and is not based out of North Sydney Oval.
