Aussie clubs started looking in nz and scouting kids after the warriors made their first grand final in 02

png haven’t had the pathways but will with an nrl club

every nrl club will benefit

you avoided the benefit to stronger international competition due to a png nrl side

the kumuls will be stronger than ever

New Zealanders only started coming to the NRL in 2002. Are you special?

What about Tony and Kevin Iro? Matthew Lodge? Dane Sorensen? Tawera Nikau? Jarrod McCracken? Brent Todd.

Learn some history you child.

Yep I imagine maxipad and canard lie awake at night worrying about the poor kids of png
The average yearly income in PNG is less then $2,500.

But, let's spend $100M on a football team for them? Just so the Panthers and whoever @Wb1234 supports this week can recruit some more players.

You guys live in your Sydney bubble with your heads in the clouds

I’m obviously like you and would like to see the Bears link with Perth but the Perth have got to meet them 50/50 and be flexible on their non negotiables or both entities Bears/Perth risk losing out to other bid options.
Imo both the Bears/WA compliment each other and together would easily nab position 19 and possibly 18 (depending on PNG and the Aust Govts’ stance).

Central Coast Bears is better.

Says there aren’t enough players for 24 teams then ours up 24 teams

vic 2 will be gws on steroids
If there was no Gov funding for PNG then I'd go NZ 2, Bris 3 and NZ 3 in that order.

If they go with PNG for the 18th team then they should leave it at that for at least a decade.

I'd love to see Brisbane Tigers invest in the Gold Coast Titans.

the best outcome would be

18. Png
19. Nz2
20. Brisbane 3

21. Perth
22. Nz3
23. Central coast bears
24. Adelaide

That's the ideal order.

As it stands, Brisbane, Bears, PNG and Perth are the only places showing an interest. We know very little about the Perth bid. Brisbane Tigers aren't doing themselves any favours by changing their model. PNG is dependent on Gov funding. Bears are not doing themselves any favours with their non-negotiables.

Nobody is giving the bears full ownership

even 50 percent they are dreaming let them stay in the nsw cup for their stupidity

I can, albiet 2 home aswell as 2 trials the other 10 games in a relocated city as thier home base
Victorians would never accept it. Neither would South Australians or Western Australians.

South Melbourne Swans tried something similar in the early 1980s by basing themselves in Melbourne and playing in Sydney. Neither their fans in Melbourne nor the people of Sydney embraced them because they felt it wasn't their team.

I’m not advocating for it but a central coast bears bid would be stronger than Perth or Adelaide today and forever more

politics won’t allow it though

Newcastle too would be against it

It's better to remain as the North Sydney Bears in the NSW Cup than to become the West Coast Bears based permanently out of Perth.

Fortitude Valley Diehards and Western Brisbane Panthers have accepted their position in the third-tier of the RL pyramid. They field teams in the BRL.

Dunno I suspect their fans would love to see them back in the nrl in some form especially if they do get two games at north Sydney oval

They could’ve linked up with Perth but it looks like Perth is going it alone

I'm interested in seeing the "business case" for Perth. After everything Perth Red has said about the finances of the existing NRL clubs it'll be funny if Perth lags behind.

Now Perth red is not here I’m happy to say I don’t think it will be bad

cash converters are still there

wa is rich money won’t be an issue

they will average 15k and with the nrl grant won’t be a drain

juniors will need a lot of work though

all the work the arl did In the 90s got ruined by the club being killed off

the nrl can put clubs just about anywhere it wants and the club can work financially since the grant is so high

I suspect with the next tv deal clubs will get even higher funding over the cap than the current five million which isn’t necessarily a bad thing
