That was never the issue. Fed government is footing bill & then some..
And when the govt money stopped?

..East's tigers enter
So you support a bid just to waste some Australian taxpayer dollars for a few years, knowing that the team can't stand on it's own so the moment the govt money runs out, the team would be disbanded?
Agree accept for the last part.Practice run for when the NRL shatter the dreams of hyped up media fed locals by not admitting them to the competition as the 18th team.
Build up and professionalise their domestic comp teams and their state competition expansion teams (i.e. PNG Hunters) at age divisions and senior levels.
Give PNG a greater role in spreading the game in Africa and South America.
Agree accept for the last part.
If the Hunters were dominating QLD Cup a PNG side would deserve greater consideration.
They are mid table at best.
Any money given to the png should be used to creating better pathways to the hunters.
Then if there's improvement there they can bid for an nrl licence. See you in 2130 png.
You morons think the Broncos are a North Brisbane team, doesn't get any more clueless than that.
The only govt money that counts on this forum is the five million the Perth govt will spend on juniorsThat was never the issue. Fed government is footing bill & then some..
Or they play half their games in cairns to make up the shortfall..East's tigers enter
You think the Brisbane Tigers are based in East Brisbane. You morons think the Broncos are a North Brisbane team, doesn't get any more clueless than that.
The anti png mob don’t even know png was part of Australia onceYou think the Brisbane Tigers are based in East Brisbane.
Everyone who follows rugby league in Brisbane knows the Tigers are based at Langlands Park in Coorparoo, across the road from Villanova.
Was there less instability in PNG when it was an Australian territory?
The anti png mob don’t even know png was part of Australia once
heck one of the dopes didn’t even know it was a former colony which we exploited economically and treated the locals awfully
the general level of ignorance from the anti png mob is an eye opener I must say
PNG was under Australian administration until 1975.I think PNG would benefit from becoming a state of Australia. At the very least it will hold its politicians to a great degree of scrutiny and help it receive more money to build the infrastructure it currently lacks. Australia will benefit from gaining access to the country's natural resources.
*I don't think people realise how poor and dangerous that country truly is....not to mention a completely corrupt government. Those reasons alone are good enough to not do it.
East Brisbane and Coorparoo are neighbouring suburbs, plus I couldn't give a f**k about Easts Tigers lolYou think the Brisbane Tigers are based in East Brisbane.

cuckoo cuckoo
If the NRl had any sense it would have been campaigng for Govt funds to improve the Digicel cup, have a massive schools RL program and a second club in the QRL. Trying to get Australian and Kiwis and the odd PNG player to live in cairns and fly to PNG is just about the worse expansion model Ive ever heard of! Makes the Bears look like a good idea.A PNG NRL team would be an absolute disaster for rugby league.
*I don't think people realise how poor and dangerous that country truly is....not to mention a completely corrupt government. Those reasons alone are good enough to not do it.
*Ongoing funding. I'd hate for our tax dollars to go there to support a team. If PNG were to get a team, they would need to finance it themselves. If not, our dollars towards a team there would never end.
*Player talent. Who in f**k would want to live there? Even if they were to fly in and out of there, it is not a attractive existence for players. Clubs like St George and Tigers have trouble enough attracting players as is.....and those clubs are in Sydney. Good luck getting anybody with origin type ability over there.
Roster-wise, the only way they could do it is with a lot of PNG players in the team. There are clearly not enough png players that can cut it in NRL level yet.
A PNG bid now is a crazy idea.
Good to see colonialism is alive and well! Not surprised its coming from redneck Brisbane lolI think PNG would benefit from becoming a state of Australia.
