I don't know but I'm sure that would be looked at if a team came in.
I'm sure the 4k playing numbers would have a greater success at going on to be an NRL player than the numbers of players in Port Moresby who have poor health and nutrition.

I have no doubt it will but that is an example of the sort of stuff needed.

The 4k in isolation doesn't mean anything,

Take out those under say 12
Those over 18 also - as they will be too old

That is the potential player pool, There could be others in a different sport though and that is why school teams are important. Allows them to play multiple sports

if you think a cairns based PNG team isnt going to be at least 75% full of australians and kiwis youre kidding yourself.
Dolphins have and continue to poach players from existing pools, it will be many years before we see them full of Moreton Bay region players. Thast the reality of any new club.

no team will ever be full of locals

the difference with the dolphins is they will grow juniors meaningfully Perth won’t

not in our lifetimes

It will take at least a decade though for those systems to be in place and producing players. I agree they have a head start on perth in pure numbers alone but arguably the Jnr systems are actually more developed in perth (well was till SG Ball was closed down) than in PNG. Its a huge step to take kids running around fields in barefoot to NRL level and will take many years and lots of grassroots investment.
What are you talking about? Sgball? Hunters are in the qcup, there's a digicel cup comp that has clubs that would rival some of the reserve or massey cup sides... perth sgball side couldn't even win one match, your perception is lopsided...
As for a new club poaching talent, as long as they are able to give back then its give and take, a city like perth won't be giving back for minimum a decade

Correct, So can add another 5-10 years after that 10 to get a crop of meaningful players... if players can't be enticed across in the meantime?

Say a decade of 12-18 place finishes, In that time Perth 3 will be AFL team 20.

How much support is that shit Perth NRL side getting?

Again. I am not saying no to a side but that is the risks with a Perth side. As with all locations there is risk

Why has rugby failed in Sydney, Brisbane and the rest of Australia? I don't know why but we should be taking advantage.
Population in Australia, plus rugby is a rigid sport, too many fickle rules, not exactly fun... the only draw card was the wallabies, now theyre pretty underwhelming... its basically on life support, especially after eddie jones got the flick

NRLWA runs a number of school programs from participation events, nines through to a full SHS competition with RL scholarships

what does 'meaningfully' mean int his context?

In the short life of the Reds we had already seen a massive uptake in participation and a really strong U19's NSWRL team coming through. On the smell of an oily rag our Pirates SG Ball program has started to develop players who went on to second tier and some on to NRL or SL level.

I have no doubt PNG and WA can produce NRl players with the right investment, systems and pathways in place. Its really strange to think either couldnt.
