I think Nov 1 this year is for players coming off contract at the end of '26...if they're coming off contract '25 then they have been on the market since Nov 1 last year.
Yeh that's what said in a later post and why Staggs may be available.
It's like waiting to unwrap a Christmas present Das :)

If we're gonna shell out money to get an experienced half near the end of their career, I'd rather shell out for DCE than Reynolds. You'd get more games out of him and he could help the lads out with property investment advice on the northern beaches.

Are we looking for another 7 though?

Signing Reynolds or DCE would probably be about the surest way of losing Luai and maybe a few others who have "bought in" and blowing up what's being built..it'd be short term (maybe) help for long term start all over again
* IMHO
Agree, if Galvin is going, you'd also lose Latu (maybe his brothers, as well) as a minimum.
You don't work towards making it a close family, then toss out your brothers and think everything is hunky dory, besides, we are travelling reasonably well, I also think Richo and Benji are smarter than that.

As I understand it, we'll all know in a few weeks (probably the bye round).

What if Galvin stays?

Is that what your thinking Pezz?
I've stated before that if it all goes pear shaped for him and we spend our cap he'll have to fall back on the upgrade that he's contracted for next year and lose hundreds of thousands of dollars.

This is mainly based on the comments supposedly made by Richo, that they are resigned to losing him at the end of this season.
But if he did stay, the same scenario might well apply, if Latu thinks he's been dudded.
Though, he does have to get on the park to prove himself. It's his brothers that I'd like to keep atm.
But the way the article reads, Richo has already done deals, so I don't think it will happen.

So we'd spend huge money on a half that will need a season to blend with Luai and then the 2nd year would be their last year. Would we have enough $$$ to sign good players around them. If not all we'd do is blow up the juniors coming through for no short or long term benefit.

Agree 100%.
We have the absolute luxury of a high quality half, tied into having his valuable brothers firing in the team . . . and we are seriously thinking of a 2 year deal for a veteran at the end of his career, as a quick fix to our short term void ? Seriously ?
When I look at the small sample of Latu's game, the closest I see is Katoa. Yeah, I know, it's a long stretch, but he is a great fit, especially with Luai.
And I know some will be saying that he's always injured.
That could well sort itself out. . . . . remember how we "didn't really care" when we lost Shawn Blore ? . . . because he's always injured anyway ? How's that working out ?

And Benji in his early days.

I really don't mind which ½-⅝ we lose as long it's not Luia. Nov 1 is going to be tense especially with all the talk of new teams.

TBH, I think any player with half a brain can see what is happening here, we are finally on the up, if they don't want to be part of it, goodbye.

Especially if these new signings involved a gun like Best.
As far as Slelton goes, he's has a thick frame and I can't see him staying as a winger in a year or two. So the long term plan might involve him venturing into the forwards just like his brother.
That means our centres could be Makasini and Best and To'a and Turuva on the wings.
our ½ would be Latu and Luai ⅝, just some lateral thinking as Naden is nearing the end too.

Naden is only 29, I think he will be good depth, but agree, I don't see him being a starter unless injury is ravaging us. Though his form prior to his injury was good.

He is injured every year and not an impact player but more an opportunist.
If he's happy to be depth at a bargain price then so be it. Benji likes him so he must be a good club and family man.

Apparently souths are interested in signing him
Oh really. Bennett has a thing for indigenous players. He seems to be a bit of motivator with these lads and gets the best out of them. Except Latrell who is lazy and a show pony.
