that is the point. The stance on renewables/coal is based on who is funding them - not on whether they are left/right/conservativeI’ve farted more coal than the UK could muster. Silly comparison.

We will eventually go the same way.
And they are increasing their nuclear power generation. Something our Luddites cannot understand. We will eventually go the same way.
Big difference between us and the UK is that they started running out of cheap supplies of coal and had resorted to imports for a period.
Yes - they have been better at setting energy policy and phasing out coal than Aus, but context is important.
I think it's foolish to compare Australia and the UK, as it would Namibia and Sweden.
Bye bye Bandt!Wow, postal/pre-poll votes really f**ked Adam Bandt and his giant Green toothbrush!
They seem to be going 63% to Labor, and there were 10,000 of them - enough to punt the jet-setting leader from his own seat.

Interesting. Who are the luddites in this country? And they are increasing their nuclear power generation. Something our Luddites cannot understand.
Easiest solution, retro fit at govt expense HELE to current coal powered while the move to renewables is considered and maintain power supply and base load. Without massive subsidies and new poles and wires which will cost possibly more than nuclear , we need to return to reliable and cheaper power.Gas of course into the supply and now we hopefully get the zealots Bowen and Bandt moved on, there is a chance to see sense and reflect on what is needed.
Can’t stand back and watch us continue to increase prices etc while the rest of the world has a better strategy compared to our contribution of 1.4 %, of global greenhouse , looking good and patting yourself on the back to virtue signal doesn’t help the economic outlook.
All very awesome!Whilst you are "considering the move" the country has already moved.
We will be 82% renewables by 2030.
The last coal power station in Australia will be closed in 2038.

'Expensive, improbable': The case against extending coal-fired power
Australia's coal-fired power stations are unreliable and driving up electricity prices, according to a new report out today, on the eve of a federal election campaign in which the viability of keeping coal plants going longer will be a key focus.www.abc.net.au
This is the state of power generation right now.
