For me, this new Bears entity requires a complete refresh, new modern Logo, a jersey that takes from both the Bears and Reds, definitely needs Yellow as a trim colour.
They can't just plonk the Nth Sydney Bears as they are in Perth and expect it to be the best they could do.
It also won't go down well with West Australians in general. As I've not long ago posted in another thread, this is WA's team, not a reborn Norths who are taking games to Perth as some kind of favour to WA.

This new WA club needs to be starting fresh. No prior history, no pre-existing long-standing rivalry, ect. It needs its own logo and jerseys as a point of difference to the North Sydney club, which, although tied in, is a different club.

Never underestimate the level of parochialism WA people have for WA ... particularly when it comes to the eastern states. Seriously, I live here and it's genuine and it's intense. Over the top, too, I gotta say..!

I had a soft spot for the Bears in the 90s I did, loved the jersey and the colours, but I hate how they've forced themselves upon the people of Perth, the desperation to be relevant again is immense.
I really loved the West Coast Pirates brand, and hoped it would eventually lead to an NRL team, sad that its basically died since Covid.
But yes it needs to have a WA flavour throughout, with Bears support in the background, sadly thats probably not whats going to happen.

I feel the same but if they can strike a balance like the Swans have done, it can work.

I agree, the original old western Reds jersey melds well with the bears.

Qlders are much the same and its a big reason we ended up with the Titans and not the GC Bears

Has Citibank and/or Cash Converters been signed up as sponsors yet. If not, massive fail, doomed to be perennial bottom 4 team.

The above comment is timestamped after the announcement.

Another example of not reading or listening to anything before commenting.

What balance do the Swans have?

They are literally South Melbourne plonked in Sydney with same vague reference to the ugly opera house.

would be good if Bears take off in WA and the NRL looked at bringing in WC Pirates - get a bit of a rivalry going.

WC pirates could position themselves as the "genuine" WA team who are anti Bears and anti East Coast.

Bears last home game in 1999 at NSO was against the Storm - maybe that could become a tradition for the Bears game at NSO if they get 1 game a year.
