Flanno's New Signings

We are losing close games because of inexperience and some poor quality players. Our first-grade youngsters will have more NRL experience and another off-season under their belt. Hopefully we will have more success in recruiting a couple of alpha props.

A halves combo of Flanno and Atkinson will not do the job. We need at least one of the halves to be a marquee player.
NAH
We have lost some close games due to our experienced players letting us down
Origin and International Reps
Goal kicking , dropped high balls , missed tackles , silly penalties , dropping the ball when over the line ffs , etc etc
Our young inexperienced boys are doing us proud
Some quality signings would help big time for 2026

I read Marty Tupou is on the outer at the Broncs for liking a social media post criticising the coaches style. He is certainly a big menacing prop, should we be trying to get him to beef up our forward ranks?

I saw that too, honestly if it was just till the end of the year as our #30, id take anyone cause we r already at crisis point with our middles, if anything happens to Jack its good night.

But we can def do better for 2026..

Don't think we will need anymore journeymen type forwards by next year our young forwards should be older and better. I think at this stage of his career that's all you'd class Klemmer as now. I'd rather keep the cash to add to the kitty for the alpha prop or props. Let's make no mistake when the next Fonua Blake pops up.
Yes, we have lot's of juniors coming through so, we need to get rid of some average players and reuit a few marquees. First on the list should be a couple of props nd someone to partner Atkinson in the halves.

Would be going after Pahulu from the Titans
has been impressive when given an opportunity but he appears on the outer with Des
Young prop with a big future
We have plenty of quality young back rowers coming thru
Would def throw plenty at Sandon Smith if DCE goes to the Chooks

With the young blokes we’ve got coming through we only need to sign a couple of top quality forwards to compliment them. The ones we go after should be big, fast, and have ball skills. Pahulu may well have a decent future in the game but he’s not the dominant forward we’re looking for.

Agree
Haas would be the number One choice
Freak of a talent
Could/would be the most expensive signing in Dragons History

He’s the one we need isn’t he? Contracted to Brisbane to end of 2026. Throw the kitchen sink at him for the 27/28/29 seasons. Plus aim for one more top forward, preferably to start in the 2026 season if possible.

I mean if we could organise jobs for his family, pay him more than anyone else, get him a house near one of the northern beaches of the gong…

The problem with Haas is:
a) pretty much every Top4 club will drop players to make his signature happen
b) he genuinely seems to be focussed on finding a premiership winning club
b) if its was just a money thing and we wanted to throw 1.5mil at him.. I mean maybe.. but I still dont reckon he would come.. hes also likely to be a Bears target on top of the other 17 who might be willing to make him a marquee.

I just think we have to aim lower, the AFB one isnt happening again (i.e. it was late notice so most clubs didnt have 1mil cap spare + we only had a couple of sydney rivals), thats not going to happen again and we still missed it.. May was another freaky situation that is unlikely to happen again, but I still dont think we had a chance with no penrith players here... and I genuinely think his personality/attitude was a real risk.. hoping it still will be tbh despite his incredible early form..

Who does that leave though.. probably someone on the outer.. maybe a NAS though hes on a long contract? Or someone stuck behind established middles, whos agitating to break? But thats more of a risk.. but maybe we could buy 2 very promising 22-24yr olds on overs.. but its not a guarantee.. but I dont think a guarantee exists.. and everyone good is on contract anyway...

Anyone watching the roosters dogs game? Bailey Howard is a classy player has abit of soward about his running and passing game. Straight swap with Latu and we will upgrade him for a couple years win win situation
Yeah he's a good young player, I remember him playing well against us in the game last year where they scored about 40 unanswered points against us.

We have young props:
T Couchman
R Couchman
Stewart
Tonga

What we need to do it to lose our average props and pickiu\p a couple of really good experienced props:
Lose
Laurie
Klemmer
Sele
Fifita
BMM
RFM
Molo
Illias

The Couchmans and Hamish Stewart are all edge back rowers/lock forwards, they are not the long term solution to the club's front row, both Couchmans have sustained injuries due to Flanagan's insistence that they play out of position.

I agree that the front row needs a big clean out but unfortunately it won't be that easy to offload most of the deadwood possm.

Tui Kamikamica or Lazarus Vaalepu from storm might be an option before 30 June.
Toby Sexton is not signed either for next year, be nice to get one back on the dogs. Looks like they are going after DCE or Galvin.

Let’s be honest here , the player wanted to go where he thought he would develop the best. A struggling club that has mediocrity as it’s Moto or the Dirty Dogs who have recruited very well, sit on top of the ladder and have Gould. Can’t really blame him can you.
The kid wanted to stay
You can be sure that Gould would have bagged Shane & our club in his usual roundabout way without showing his dislike for Shane in his "caring smooth

The thing that's starting to scare me now is that what will happen when Couchman, Egan, Stewart etc get sick of losing. They get better offers and go to other clubs then we start going through the cycle again.
spot on we need a coach asap

Unfortunately I agree, BUT that shouldn’t stop us trying.

we know he is coming off contract. We should already approach the manager and tell him Haas is exactly The guy we need to mentor our young guys, and if he is interested in coming to us we will male it happen. If he says he isn’t interested so be it, but if he is, we can start the search for a tpa etc.

i want us to be proactive. Let’s face it, we need a 7 and an ‘alpha prop”, but everyone wants these two positions atm. We target and hope, or we build from our juniors.
