The Daily Telegraph on Saturday had an article saying the NSW Government and Venues NSW were bringing in an outside organmsiation to look at Allianz's drainage, why its been so poor and how to rectify it. It was acknowledegd that what has been going on is sub-standard, especially as the SCG surface at the same time has been perfect with the water draining away perfectly by comparison.

Ok the alternative for dogs and tigers would be to keep dogs at Accor and do a more significant upgrade of Campbelltown and tigers can play 80% of their games there and a couple at the upgraded Leichhardt.

Probably makes more sense that way to push for rectangular upgrade of Accor and having at least one anchor tenant in place. Trying to get both a Liverpool stadium and Accor upgrade will be very difficult.

A 75k rectangular Accor would be a gun venue.

It would be, I don't want the capacity going backwards though. I'd prefer a monster national rectangular stadium with club mode, but as a compromise I could live with the 83k it has now but rebuilt as a proper rectangle

Not going to happen for at least a Decade or more.

June 30 was never going to happen. Tigers might need to make a deal to play at least 8 games a year there if they want an upgrade. If that’s all it takes they’d be mad not to pursue it but who knows with the Tigers.

Tigers will lose money by not taking games to Commbank, so maybe they sign a short term agreement to play 8 games at Campbelltown. Possibly by the end of the agreement Campbelltown gets an upgrade.

Tigers should've prioritized Campbelltown from a long time ago. A breakdown of home games like six at Campbelltown, three at Leichhardt and three at Commbank or Allianz. And go to the state government and say to them,

"we realise that you can't significantly upgrade every suburban ground, so we choose Campbelltown to be our main home, and for Leichhardt to have funding for female amenities and general safety".

Instead the Tigers tried to please everyone to their own detriment.

As long as we know it's going to happen I'd be happy to wait, rather than trying to slap a roof on or adjust the existing stadium, let's get a full proper rebuild

The 2027 Rugby World Cup Final will be held in the same stadium it did 24 years prior with only a larger scoreboard.
This will not go unnoticed by the international and local media and by then, pressure will be on to do something.
The previous NSW Government determined that ACCOR needed upgrading and had full plans and budget to proceed but only Covid stopped it.
Nothing has changed and It still needs upgrading.

No, what stopped it was the former SCG Trust and politics. And pressure from f-wits like Fitzsimmons and Alan Jones.
They didn't want money being poured into a stadium in the west. That's why Allianz got the money back then and not Accor. Eastern suburbs snobbery and power brokers.
Now that the SCG Trust has been disbanded and Accor now comes under control of a different entity, there is a slight hope that the plans for Accor may change in the future.
I won't be holding my breath though.

Wont be any announcements for at least 12 months on HBF Park. It will happen but after a breathing space so it doesnt look like Cook lied about it not being part of the agreement. He's also just announced the $220mill Burswood racetrack brainfart idea which he will cop a load of flak for over next few months so wont want to add to the pile on with $200-300mill for HBF park.

Another big soccer match announced for HBF today. These games make it easier for the govt to justify redevelopment . If they sell out, I'd be announcing it in the weeks after.

It makes sense.
As much as I dont give a ***,the old SCG stands (o’reilly,brewongle)have really had their day.
Accor needs to be the priority especially with the opening of the metro west line.
It doesnt leave anything for any suburban venue

SCG needs an upgrade just for the cricket alone, I pray the upgrade of Accor is not just a roof. It needs to go back to the plan that has been discussed on here. 75K rectangular with corporate facilities to match.

I still reckon in the long run their is value in the NRL having a stadium asset, maybe a deal with govt to get Accor upgraded.

The SCG just needs some lip stick. New seats, maybe a few bucks for electricals - thats plenty. The SCG's charm is all about its cricket tradition and history.

Didn’t realise the light rail extended that far to souths juniors

So fans from both south and western Sydney get easy access via lr

Didn’t need to keep that game at Accor which by then will mean Souths “home” game there will have more dogs fans

Moving back closer to home will be huge for the club

They would never have left if they had been treated fairly by the scg trust

Don't think they'd release this unless it was in the advanced stages, like pretty much set in stone. Guessing they're putting out this to do a temperature check with the fanbase.

Great news for the NRL in general and for Souths fans, I think it will be a much better atmosphere and experience for them. Another team in a high quality rectangular stadium. The more teams that are, the more the clubs that aren't, stand out and it puts pressure on the government/club to find a solution. See Andrew Barr.

Great news!
Makes sense to keep the good friday game at accor with reciprocal rights to the return game as well. We need to build on the 65k crowd this year and make that the norm in the future.
