Cronulla should take a lot of game to the SFS.
Their Warriors game, Bears when they are in, the Dogs game. Provided at least some sharks fans are prepared to travel 45m by train those games would get more at the SFS than at the very small Shark Park. As would the Eels game.

They just beat the Storm at home …maybe they prefer to have a genuine home field advantage rather than making it easier for the opposition fans to get there and cheer the other side ? The travel time is close to an hour to Central and then a 10-15min walk …

Then they need to make their home ground better. There should be a minimum standard and they should be forced to comply with it.

Good crowd and could be their lowest of the year with any luck, although a couple of games may be lower depending on weather & form. Shame they couldn’t continue the 40k+ streak but a 40k average is still well and truely in play.

Winning some games might help.

Absolutely need to win some games and with that the media shit talking will stop. The trash out of Buzz and Badel cooked our ticket sales this week, until the sun came out this morning and we knocked off about 2k.

Sure, but the cronulla sharks club also has to be held to account for the fact their fans are about the worst in the league for travelling within sydney to away games. As a club do something to get those bludging/entitled cronulla fans off their arse - example: taking big games to the big stadium.

I doubt Cronulla fans want to watch their team play home games at the SFS. It's pointless to suggest it. There's no indication that stadium rationalisation is ever going to happen in Sydney.

Get over it.

I've been trying to think of ideas of how you can incentivise clubs like the Sharks and Dragons to try and build their crowd attendances. Mainly because it seems some of these Sydney clubs frankly just don't seem to care.

One idea could be to introduce a cash prize yearly to whichever club increases their attendances the most that year? Maybe like $5 million a year? Would that be enough to encourage clubs like Cronulla and the Dragons to take games to Allianz?

The other one could be to have the NRL make a deal with venues NSW for cheap rent for these clubs to use Allianz and Accor for big games?

$5 million a year would encourage teams to sandbag their crowds for a year so they could increase the most the next year.
Eg Broncos play out of Kayo for a year with $400 tickets and then triumphantly return to Suncorp to claim the money a year later.

These bloke will never get over it. Sharks stadium will increase capacity to 18000 in the next couple of years. The nrl has bought a hotel right next door. That’s the end of the argument really.

Maybe the club gets disqualified from it if their crowds drop the previous year lol.

Not the best idea, but I'm just throwing some ideas out there because there is a number of clubs that should be doing more to attract people to come to games.

Respectfully, are you seriously okay with limiting your club to 18k capacity? Do you not aspire for your club to grow?

I don’t think we should reward clubs for increasing attendances. It’s too fickle and disadvantages biggest clubs with highest crowds. We’ve had natural growth since Covid of over 20%. Last year we had over 20 sell outs. We have about 8 grounds that struggle to fit 20000 patrons. If the game continues to grow the way it is smaller clubs will need to move bigger games to bigger stadiums to cater for demand. It will happen naturally.
