I don’t understand byes at all. By the time we have our first bye in round 15, 6 teams will have already had 2. You guys have 2 byes in 4 weeks coming up.

The scheduling makes absolutely no sense.

I can see where Billy’s coming from. While I’m obviously a huge fan of Savage, I don’t think he’s an Origin player at this stage. He improved heaps but still has too many errors in him. Had a shocker against the Bulldogs which could have cost him, even though he redeemed himself yesterday.

Arthars is a Kiwi and really shouldn’t be playing for Queensland in my opinion, although he’s in the extended squad so maybe they could have gone that way unless they were worried about his defence? Also the Broncos have lost form as a whole at exactly the wrong time.

Roosters may be down the bottom of the table at the moment but form is trending up and Toia’s shown he can handle stepping up without being overawed, although Origin is a completely different prospect.

Feels like there were no slam dunk choices and they went with Billy’s gut in the end.

You can only hope that, having made the decision to pick him, they stick with him. Dropping him after one game, especially if it turns out to be a loss, could really shatter his confidence.

I still say the regular season should be suspended from this past weekend for 3 weeks and in that time have a big 9s tournament with some ESL clubs involved as well. That can be another season of its own essentially where tipping comps and fantasy league (both big drivers of interest in the particular sport) can restart.
Clubs that are struggling such as GC, Knights and Eels could target some silverware to entice the fans.
