Finau Latu's Move to Canterbury Bulldogs

If the Dragons are in such bad shape why have Couchman X 2, Tonga, Jacob Halangahu, Egan, Stewart and LKT all recommitted to the club in recent times??
No way would the Bulldogs offer be the lowest on the table.
So we should lock up all those juniors - and more! We need a lot more hunger off the field.

The fans were talking about locking up Latu over the course of the last year or so and the club can't get it done. Nor can we sign any marquee or second tier props and it has been excruciating to see each prospect fall over, one after the other. Great to keep those players but we are going fairly average in this space in comparison to better run clubs.

Keep sugar coating everything and keep getting ready for being underwhelmed.

At the end of the day, the manager should have given Saints the right to make a counter offer after the Dogs one. That did not happen which is what pi$$ed off Flanno and rightly so. Sounds like Saints would have matched it or maybe gone a bit more. How do you know that the Dogs gave him the offer and put the heat on him to take it now or the offer is gone so he was pressured into committing? That is something I would expect from them especially a guy like Gould. Learning curve from the Dragons is for the good players, simply offer them early before they are allowed to talk to clubs. Simple.

Anyway, the best prop in the English Super League was sent back without playing a game for the Dogs, what's to say Latu will be better than him? Dogs are ruthless, if they don't like you after 5 minutes, you are gone.

Matt Nicholson and Morgan Smithies are doing ok in the Raiders. I am still confused why Saints just don't go abroad. Surely there is a big bopper there waiting for a taste of the NRL. Maybe the guy the Dogs released could be a risk for a year or 2.

Or, maybe the dogs gave his manager an under the table payment to ensure he accepted their lower offer. Something like, convince him to go to the dogs for less, better placed to win the comp, blah, blah etc, and we will pay you twice the amount that you would've lost in commission. No doubt something dodgy has happened.

Yes I did hear whispers of player managers receiving under the table cash.
There are many ways to wash the money, also can spend on holidays, home renovations and much more

We screwed this one up
Do not blame his manager
They gave us enough initial chances and when we finally woke up it was too late and we then cried we were not given the last right
The kid and family wanted to stay but there was no initial love. The manager tried hard todo the deal with us initially.
How we was not even put on the bench in first grade for even one week to sweeten deal says it all
Show some love to the kid
Cant say any anymore

Exactly. A good young player that feels they belong and knows where they fit in to the big picture, shouldn't be someone we can't retain but here we are.

interestingly Latu didnt really put his hand up this season in any game I saw.

Primarily Latua has played very average football vs theh other 7 or so young players promoted and or playing FG now

We desperately need "NOW" more FG level forwards to help with our injuries / FG level ready players

I am wondering now if Flano saw Latu as an opportunity to move him on ie this season so we can get another proper FG NRL player across to our top30 this season also?

That would be counter to Flano saying we wanted Latu to stay.

But Gus lies all the time re players and keeps the media guessing

No… Gould has accused Dragons of affecting his mental health by making home stay, just as he has done with Galvin to get an immediate release from the Tigers. Gould is absolutely evil and a blight on the game..Gould has had his grubby finger prints all over the Galvin saga from the start, spewing his lies and deceit for months while orchestrating his master plan in the media. How dare he’s use mental health and workplace bullying lies to get his way when to a lot of people these are serious issues

and all the while the NRl sitback and just let it happen because they are too scared of him…. The whole game is a joke

It appears that the hierarchy of the games’s governing
body is interested in one thing and one thing only , that being how to squeeze every last dollar out of the sports fans .

Breaches of the salary cap and luring contracted players to other clubs does not give them any financial gain so it is not worth their interest , only to make money .

It's so obvious Kolum Kid, the games are orchestrated and fixed so that the NRL time slots are filled with the "favourite teams". Playing! the 6 again rule is the catalyst as to which team wins to maximise the playoffs for the TV viewing population.

I think the NRL will be aligned with the NFL system where there will teams in geographical conferences spanning across Aust, UK(especially when the NRL buy Super League), Pacifica and North America (hence the massive Vegas shitshow).

Its all about the entertainment $$$ now and not the sport. I once played in the Red V back In my day late 80's early 90's as a St.George player, back when Rugby League was a sport with true talent and unbiased head office interaction of the result!
