Gould got the player but I really think this will haunt him for the rest of his time. A bit like John Howard being labeled "Honest John" except this will be a bit worse because everyone knows politicians are dishonest and have no integrity so Howard didn't care whereas Gould is trying also to be a trustworthy figure in the media.

Metcalf would be a decent 6, shame he’s still contracted next year. What’s junior Cleary like? Think he played his first cup game on the weekend

Sexton i think will end out at the Gold Coast or the Broncos as they have aging halves

Sandon Smith would be a handy option as he too is a goal kicker (think if Russell was on song we would be closer in winning games when Lomax or Moses were out)

Jonah Pezet another good option already knows the so called Storm system to JR is working on the EELS with fit fast
then there's Tyran Wishart who can cover FB, 5/8 & halfback if required

'Missing out on Galvin is no great deal

The Gold Coast have so many halves at the moment though. They also have some pretty good kid coming through their development as well. I doubt they go for Sexton.

Sandon Smith is an interesting one not sold on him long term. We already have decent backups in CUP as well...

I think and hope the club doesn't just go out and buy anyone now as we missed out on Galvin.

They need to look at other positions and use whoever we have now to play 5/8 most likely Joash until someone else puts their hand up.

Metcalf is a guy I'd consider if we're looking at a long term plan from 27, but then what do you do with Tailatana who's an awesome talent?
No guarantee that he'll be first grade standard. If he turns out as good as expected then he can be introduced to 1st grade on the bench and then work his way into the starting side from there. The storm have no problem stockpiling talented backups (Faalogo, Wishart, Pezet), we should be aiming to do the same

sure, and there are no guarantees that Galvin will be the generational player that most are predicting but he is a kid worth taking a genuine punt on.

you could also argue that we're doing or have done the same with our back up spine! ( Paps, Volk, Hawk and Hands ) maybe not as a talanted as the melbourne 4 but certainly not terrible.

I know a few have spouted his name but Sexton is not the answer. By every measurable stat that is relevant for a 5/8th, Drown is having a better season than Toby boy. And yes, I know the stat sheet isn't gospel, but you need a running 6 to properly complement Moses, and that's not Sexton's style, based on his 58 games in FG so far.
Sandon Smith is probably a better option or we fast-track one of the juniors and pour all our money into having a dominant forward pack, which is ultimately going to have more influence on results anyway.

whilst there's been some issues at board level in the past theyre still able to get some heavy hitters on their board like Ray Dib and John Khoury, the involvement of Laudy and accusition of Gus has made them a very very powerful unit.
Think their board has several wealthy , business owners who seem to have connections. Not sure if our board is similar, seem to be very professional people Involved , are they wealthy and mad fans as the Dogs seem to, not seen it really. The Parra board are doing a great job , different perspective it seems regards behind the scenes support.
