I think a Gus type “truth / assurance” should be called a guth (pronounce gooth).

It’d be nice if he went back to doing it. Why does he need to be on the board to help the club?
Agreed. He should accept his situation. He isn’t going to be the eels equivalent of Politis or Gould or the like.
He could still be a heroic figure in our fight to rise to dominance again.

I’d be flagging now like someone said earlier about Dogs players we want.
Maybe it’s an interest in:
Preston
Xerri

Mayybe Curran.

In that order? I’d grab the first two with open arms.

Would love both Preston and Curran Stevie
Preston would be worth $700 to $750k I reckon. Curran probably $550 to $600k. Xerri about the same as Curran probably.
I'm guessing we've probably approached their Managers already "just to check out their willingness for a pay increase". Nothing rule breaking of cause.

Why hasn't Galvin been made official at the Bulldogs yet? Now I'm getting worried that we might have signed him. (or wouldn't it be just the best if Moses has shafted the Dogs as well and he ends up at the Roosters).

I cant stand that Andrew Webster but he has nailed Gus here. With these quotes when there is a big decision made at clubs he is at like sacking coaches he claims he has nothing to do with it.

The way that he backs away from major decisions at the clubs he is at and when it all comes out I think is really weak,” Webster said on the Off the Record podcast.

“For a big, hard man of rugby league, he did it with (Anthony) Griffin, he did it with (Trent) Barrett and now he’s trying to do the same thing with Lachlan Galvin.

Gus own it, just own it. The line that he had nothing to do with it has to be the biggest load of bulls*** I’ve ever heard.

I have fond memories of his tenure but I think he really screwed up by signing Hagan and ultimately I think it was a factor in his downfall. That decision set us back a very long time.

eeerr not sure about that tbh...

other than Bennett, I'm not sure who would of got us a another level at the time, Maybe Hasler or Bellamy? but like Bennett they were pre occupied at the time.

I think Hagan done a reasonable job, not great but ok.

Nobody’s been ‘shafted’ unless they overpay for him. Missing out on a signing (or retention) is easy to overcome. Covering for overpaid players can last years.

if there's a roughy amongst them I would say it's curren but only if he fell in our laps like most of our signings.
