If as I’m sure most agree Ramsay makes it back to first grade then without a major reset Slaon will be out of first grade. He was described by another poster here as a pea heart and unfortunately I agree with that assessment, however there will be those on here that will blame it all on Flanagan’s coaching or lack there of
Well when Flano got the job he said he would coach Sloan to be a top level full back. So your sarcastic suggestion of people blaming Flano is correct, cause by your assessment Sloan is a pea heart,so Flano has failed on his coaching promise to make him a top level fullback.
Personally I don’t agree with your view on Sloan but accept your opinion.
But for most people in here, dare anybody should have a low opinion of Coach Flano that’s just totally unnacceptable
Especially given how we are so strong in recruiting top line players and we are firing as a team on all cylinders

Flanno said what most new coaches would say. He took a positive position on Sloan and has had some success but has most probably found that Sloan does not have a football heart.

I'm not sure who is the fasted winger but we are not short of wingers at the Dragons. So Sloan should be part of a deal with the Dolphins for Katoa.

If only it was that easy. Might aswell swap Kyle for Haas while we are at it, just won't happen. Flanno is obviously happy with his options in the halves so it's on him when it fails once again. Worst 7 in the comp by a long shot who has no pressure to perform because his old man is coach. Constant selection of Kyle will be his downfall 100%. Sexton, Katoa and any other decent half and threat to Kyle's position won't be signed which is Flannos choice as coach and one he seems happy to live with. Can't see LKT developing well playing along side one of the most overrated players to ever play FG.

I love your optimism Possm but Saints were lucky to get the aging Gutho, Val and Cook last year, what hope do they have of getting guys that are actually young or in their prime like Haas and Katoa. Getting those 2 and I think Saints are a premiership threat but that won't happen. This club is just happy to be in the NRL, avoid the spoon and if they make the 8 it is a bonus. Saints BOD expectations are extremely low compared to other clubs. That is what sets Saints apart from the others which is quite embarrassing.

I am really hoping the new CEO changes all this. He might be the turning point to making Saints great again. That is the biggest change needed at the club not players. A guy that wants Saints to actually win the comp and give them every possible opportunity to do so.

Well, Lawson is getting a go against the Knights in place of CT. Hopefully Lawson can show at least a glimpse of his purported talent. If he does, I believe he will be an excellent pickup for the Dragons. 🤞🤞🤞
i hope so

He hasnt stood out in ressies

good value signing though given he has alot of upside but will need time to develop.

maybe a very good one? hard to call yet !

he will be targeted massively on the high kick tomorrow night and also i would run my plays at him. But I would also run my plays at Sloan lol hahahahaha

I heard similar type feedback on Tamale that he was not really setting the world on fire and look at him now. Maybe FG will help Lawson excel.

I really feel for Fainu. Not really give a crack. He should be ahead of Lawson.
If Lawson is positioned outside of Holmes I have no doubt he ill shine. Wingers positioned outside of Suli find it difficult to get get ball most of the time.

Sloan should be made to give tonights match payment to charity. Sloan was completely outshone by a debutant in his first game for the Dragon's in Lawson. Sloan is a lazy pea hearted bludger who has never put his body on the line. I thought he would have had a bigger go this year after putting on the extra kegs in the off season. This is not a personal attack on him it’s simply my opinion on his lack of involvement in most of the games he has played to date for the GREAT RED V. If I considered myself a professional footballer and displayed the same amount of disinterest and involvement as Sloan I would be embarrassed. Rant over

Sloan's time should be up. He has had enough time to show he is up to first grade, what he has shown me is he is not an consistent first grade player. I would give permission to talk to other clubs before the June deadline and try and replace him with a descent outside back.

With Sloane out we have no speed, I hold out a little hope that he will pay the faith back one day soon and win us a critical game with just his speed.

I don't think that's true. Sloane may be our fastest player but we still have plenty of speed without him. Liddell is quick. Cook is quick. Gutho takes a while to wind up but has a good top speed. Val Holmes has plenty of toe. Lawson looks very zippy. Finau has good pace. Toby Couchman was the fastest prop measured in magic round. Suli & Leiluia still look like lumps, but I reckon we actually have quite a bit of speed around the paddock, a lot more than we have had in recent years.

You are listing nimble forwards and players who will unlikely play fg for us again. Lawson is good but Sloan would beat him by 10m over 100m. Gutho is not fast, sorry. I am talking about someone with the speed to take an intercept on his own goal line and you mark down the try immediately.

Sloan doesn't chase when opposition get in the clear. That is half the value of his speed negated.

Suli is a mystery. Flanno/Ryan Carr need to find a way to unlock his attack. I feel he is injured (ribs ...... he has not had a week off since doing his ribs and those buggers are so painful to play with).
He is an absolute beast, but I don't think we are using him correctly. He is actually quite quick once wound up. I think he might need to develop some footwork and we need to incorporate some plays where we get him between defenders as opposed to running over 2 or 3 defenders at a time. Obviously, coming off our tryline he needs to do the bumper runs, however, in the oppositions red zone we need to get him running "Briton Nikora" type lines.
I noticed Blake Lawrie reverted back to taking 2 "settles" per set of 6 in the opposition red zone, proceeded to get man-handled, slow play the ball, next runner gets swamped. So he in effect fxcked 4 plays when we are trying to score a try. I nearly needed a new TV.

Didn’t look injured on Friday. Thought he killed it
