Serious question, what did the Warriors show you to keep them above those 5? I don’t see the Eels last if Moses plays…. And what did the Knights do to improve… I don’t think you’re going to be far off, though

The Warriors part is blind loyalty. I just can't bring myself to rank them lower than 12th. If I was a neutral, no doubt they'd be lower.

As for the Knights, they beat the Tigers and I think they're a better side, on reflection, than all below them having watched the round's games. I think I ranked them lower initially based on the fact if Ponga goes down, they're f**ked. But their pack is pretty solid.

The Dolphins I can't get a read on, last week was pretty outrageous circumstances and they almost beat a Wayne Bennett coached team, albeit with lots of injuries.

The Eels just looked so far off on Sunday it was nuts. OK, it's Melbourne who are premiership favourites, but they didn't look like they tried at times. There's hardly any class in that side and even if Moses plays, he can't stop them defending like that. I absolutely think they are genuine spoon heavyweight favourites.

About half way through the season so thought I'd dust this one off and see how the predictions are shaping up. In short, pretty shit. Definitely sticking to the day job.

Weird year huh, I don't know what's more surreal - our massive resurgence or the Panthers dumped into a heap.
I'm not writing off Penrith though, I don't think they'll win it all but they'll make the 8 and create problems.

Wahs aside, your top 8 isn't that far off I reckon.

Yea man, craaazy season. Agree re: Penrith, I’m expecting them to scrape in too but to run out of gas.

Looking back I see a few of us did pick the team to make the 8 so mad respect to those guys.

I’ll back Souths in to make it, knocking out either the Dragons or NQ.

They’re just outside the 8 now on PD but still have 2 byes left so are actually ahead of both the Drags and Cows on that basis.

But Latrell is looking ominous, they get Walker and Wighton back this week(?), and Cheese could be a real wild card for them later in the year.

Subject to the usual major injury caveat, I reckon they’ll get there.

Injuries will play a big part in the top 4..
I still think we'll finish 3rd or 4th but losing Barrnet could throw us..
I'm not 100% about Fish..he hasn't really lived up to his super star reputation..I have a lot of faith in Leka and the young guys..our reserves are oozing talent..

Plus..we need a kicker real soon..

I don't care about the rest of the top eight except for the Panthers, who by my calculations if they streak from here could knock us out of a pretty decent shot at a top four finish (using my ladder predictor method which is simple losses to the top sides, throw in two to three banana skins because it is the NRL and hey presto).

So I imagined losses to Raiders, Sharks, Panthers, Broncos, Manly, Dogs.

At the same time I have us beat up on the Tigers, Dragons, Knights, win one vs Titans who we play twice, we beat the Eels.

Then I have my banana skin losses to the unpredictable Dolphins, one loss out of the two Titans games.

Storm
Raiders
Bulldogs
Panthers

Warriors
Sharks
Manly
Rabbitohs.

I think my ladder formula is realistic (not saying accurate coz this is the NRL and that would be crazy).

If we beat the the Panthers next week and the rest of the Ladder predictions go my way we finish top four. We would also have ended the Panthers chances of a top four finish.

Harris plays a role like Kevin Campion and Simon Mannering did for us.

He is the glue player, but for our middles.

It has taken me a while to get my head around what it is he actually does because like you I couldn't see it till I realized the usual metrics I look for in a Prop are not what JFH does in a team.

He doesn't bend the line.

His post contact meters are nothing spectacular.

He doesn't have late footwork at the line.

He doesn't offload or ball play.

So yeah on the surface he isn't the type of Prop we usually pay big money to.

What he does very well is win the ruck.

As I say I watched him really closely, when he comes in for the tackle, he secures the ball, he hits with some sting, and he wins the wrestle to the ground.

On other side of the ball he has a decent play the ball speed. With him in our team not many props can bully us when they run into him.

But his main strength is even more subtle, his fitness means his output stays the same, and if you needed him to, he could keep going for eighty minutes.
He runs a hell of a lot of decoys for us, so it was interesting to hear him acknowledge that when asked about his first try for the Warriors, he said he has run that line hundreds of times and that was the first time he had been given the ball (massive hint their to our ball players).

We all know he is a rugged customer, strong silent type, he got the better of AFB, and that is not the first time, he has dominated AFB against Tonga too.

According to all the noise at the Warriors coming from behind the scenes, JFH is a Campion type figure, the young guys are from what I have been told champing at the bit to get to training and be around him, it is a repeat of that famous Story where the young Warriors first saw Kevin Campion on the Tricep pull down machine in the gym and they started saying 'if the Broncos hardman is prepared to come here then maybe we aren't a bunch of losers'.

Harris has an aura, and that translates on feild to our pack to be fearless. We really could have done with that presence against Canberra when they bullied us.
