We are not the only club that faces these battles.
The salary cap doesn't allow you to keep them all, that's just a fact of the system.
There aren't too many players we've lost that have come good.
I think the coaching could be better, including bench selection, not sure about the fitness, imo, we are not losing games because of fitness, though the Storm did blow us off the park.
There are quite a few players here because of Benji. KPP has said this as well.
Pole has just resigned for another 3 years.
Bula has said he wants to remain here (his wife is playing here as well now), as has TDS, though TDS is a concern but we can cover his position.
As for Galvin, he obviously didn't want to be here (we offered him the keys to the club and he said no), if it didn't happen now, it would have happened in November, Latu is a 7 and Luai is a 6, so yes, I think we have ended up alright out of it and we now have time to reset for next year and still be able to look for players, though this season isn't over yet, as we still need to sign a few by the end of this month (I think it is).
I'm confident Galvin's money will be put to good use.
The rumour is they are look at Reynolds, I'm not a big fan of this, but f it wins us games, then I'm good.
Latu hasn’t proven a god damned thing except his body is too fragile currently for this game. I hope he comes good, but you can not say we are in a better position at the moment.
If they get Renno, that’ll be the first proper halfback we would have had in 20 years - must sign him.

Reynolds is 34, will be 35 next year and there is a reason the Broncs have lowballed him. Though he will probably stay there, as he has said his family is settled now.

Agree, he is a smart footy player and a great GK, but he is not the future for any club.

But signing him is risky (is his body is up to it), as well as it may cost us Latu (and his brothers) who are our future.

I believe Latu is a great foil for Luai, as he tends to run straight, while Luai roams (similar to Galvin).

A lot of young players suffer injury in this sport, their bodies are not yet ready for FG, but many get through it (Benji) and excel. It's been reported that Mitchel Moses is the most injury prone player in the NRL?
Putting him back behind an aging player makes no sense (and we will face the problem again in another year or two off finding another 7) and it is not guaranteed a quick fix, e.g. the Broncs are doing no better than us.

Someone needs to teach Latu how to play 7.
Benji doesn’t know.
Luai doesn’t know.
Adam does and he ripped us apart only a couple of months ago.

Why do you think Madge treats Reynolds with such reverence? Not just coz he’s a genuine controlling halfback but coz he’s the heartbeat of the team and probably the club..Check last weeks? presser with the black jerseys, Adam’s 300th …The respect Madge has for Adam. Madge is in love .. This is unheard of ..(Did you notice Reynolds didn’t look at Madge once, I think Madge gives him the shits.. if that was Bennett different story)

Also Andrew John’s says Reynolds is the best around the field kicker ever!! EVER!! From Andrew John’s, acknowledged as the best half in the game.Ever!

Brisbane are making the same mistake as south’s did. They thought coz Reynolds is older they should keep the younger guns instead..For Brisbane they want him coaching. Now that we’ve made an offer they are trying to come up with a competitive offer so he can play. but they can’t .unless they start dropping players. the moneys spent, in there eyes. Thanks to Galvin ours isn’t

Love to know what Benjis offered.. I’d say $850-$900 or more? Compared to maybe $550 or less from Brisbane ??? Just guessing..

Reynolds said when he was younger he was never interested in night clubs. He’d go to the RSL ..It was more interesting there..Hes a different cat..He’s lead a disciplined life ..Benji knows Reynolds at 34yo still has a couple more years in him..easily.. that’s all Benji needs from Reynolds to save his coaching career

I think Benji and Richo will empty the tank for Reynolds for both their careers .. That we haven't heard back yet tells me the Missus is going “hey honey, I don’t think we can turn down 2 mill. What do you think?”

Fair point.
I can't remember if Adam's parent are indigenous aussies or maybe his partner is so I'm thinking that he would be wanting to get a final big contract back home.
He was from around Mattraville so it makes sense that he played for Souths.
I wonder what he's thinking? Chase the dollars or go home, or both.

Well we havent really have we?
We had a potential generational player come through the pathways and he hated the club so much, that he didnt even entertain the thought of even reading our way over the top and generous offer. He has tried to get out of here since before he was well known. He managed to compile a dossier of poor things that the club does training wise that in his opinion, was stunting his development. There allegations of bullying and favouritism amongst the playing group.
On top of this, the club ignored the many red flags the kid was throwing up and likely even communicating, instead preferring to continue rewarding him with first grade games when he didnt deserve them in a futile attempt at bribery. Some people are claiming that Richo made this manouvre to expose him....Bullshit he did. By his own admission on the James Graham Podcast, he and his team had worked on the offer for weeks. They were blindsided.
So what this has exposed is that our training is not up to scratch, the coaching isnt good enough, the administration arent much better at recruitment and retention than the previous clowns and we continue to lose young up and coming guns, meaning we have to buy externally at rates higher than they really are worth.
This year we have lost the Large brothers and Galvin and soon TDS will be under the microscope...and dont forget Bula is a Moses stablemate and may be another fight....and Pole has shown interest in returning to Melbourne...and Makasini is attracting a lot of interest from clubs in both RL and RU....and on it goes. We need to keep all these blokes plus the Fainu's, Lauli'i's and May's if we are to build a squad that can one day return to consistent finals footy.
We havent won a game since Magic Round...if we win our next game, it would be the first in 7 weeks. On that topic, our next 4 opponents are contenders for the 8 and all present very very tough games. The two after them are struggling and will certainly have our game pencilled in for must win, before we cop the Doggies.
Galvin has not been playing good footy for us this year, but he can play and we certainly could have used his services.
" Galvin was playing good footy this year " Are you taking the piss ?
