Haha, the look how good I am but reminds me of last week, he was absolutely loving walking in front of the stands and waving to the crowd to get a big cheer from each section. Was actually in the right place at the right time last week and managed to meet him, was a very good guy
He's never really managed the fame in the way that endears him to Kiwis... or at least maybe crusty older Kiwis like many of us... but aside from the public petulance and princess complex which I think is to a degree understandable from a young fella (but should have been coached out of him by PR/comms types), seems very much like he's a genuinely nice fella

Metcalf is getting better each game. Long kicking game always good. Last week brough lots more running game.
Yeah, agreed.

He's getting better much quicker than I thought he would, too. I often hear footy experts say it takes a halfback 50 first-grade games to get a handle on things. And that's talking about guys who've played 7 all through the grades. Metcalf has played 33 first-grade games, and only 7 at halfback, all this season. And didn't he play most of his reggies/juniors at 6 or 1? So he's progressing pretty well, imo

Yeah I never really go along with the “team a and team b are a mile ahead of the rest” chat after a month of footy, over many years watching, it has been very seldom that the 2 teams picked out early in the year actually go all the way

Key in these big games a lot of time comes down to a big play from a game breaking player, backed up by solid D. Warriors may have the D part covered, but creating something from nothing probably their Achilles heel
Absolutely.

The thing is, both Metcalf and CHT have footy in them. They're not spuds, they're just not experienced enough to be able to do the jobs they're doing right now. Both are capable of a big play - CHT's one got us over the line v the Roosters. Coupled with the fact he would probably be the best defending 6 in the comp.

There's something here guys, I know we're sometimes cynical and with good reason. But hell, after Vegas we thought we were spooners.
