Rumours (signings, sackings & other NRL stuff)

Do you think they will lower themselves to ask Terrell?
Nope. They'll go with Kaluamatungi from Souths if they do make a change. May deserves it more but won't get picked due to his Tigers association and the comments he made.

I doubt they'll make a change as they'd have to admit they were wrong.

If they do go with the bloke from Souths, he won't let anyone down. I didn't think much of him playing on the edge and thought his move into the middle would be a disaster, but it was a masterstroke.

It's behind a pay wall, but apparently the Pennies player is Garner (though not fully confirmed), but I wouldn't mind him back here tbh.
Interesting who the PNG player maybe?

This was sent to me:

Wests Tigers supporters may think they are seeing double next season as the club weighs up a move for one of the hottest properties in Papua New Guinea rugby league – a 23-year-old who has been described as a Jarome Luai lookalike. Gairo Voro has been on the radar of NRL clubs in recent seasons, but it is understood that Tigers recruitment boss Shannon Gallant went on a recent trip to PNG where he cast his eye over Voro. Voro has been singled out by Hunters coach Paul Aiton as a rising star for PNG. He is likely to be one of the players that PNG build their club around when they join the NRL in 2028. He may get the chance to taste some premiership action before then as the Tigers join the queue of clubs keeping an eye on his progress in the Queensland Cup.

Though this is not saying they have signed him, but Michael Carayannis is?

Wests Tigers rising star Tallyn Da Silva has been given permission to negotiate with rival clubs immediately after interest from Newcastle.
The talented hooker has been granted permission from the Tigers which will allow him to test the open market despite his contract ending at the end of next year. Da Silva was free to chat with rivals from November 1 but the move has been fast-tracked following a surprise overture from the Knights.

A raft of discussions in the past 72 hours included:
* Newcastle originally looked to loan Da Silva for the rest of the season to help deal with their growing casualty ward in their forwards.
* Talks progressed to a potential immediate player swap between the Knights and the Tigers which would see Da Silva arrive at Newcastle on a long-term deal. The Tigers are open to securing back-rower Kai Pearce-Paul. Pearce-Paul has already agreed to join the Tigers from next year on a three-year contract. Both parties are considering this.
* Da Silva’s agent has asked for and been granted permission to speak with other clubs, not just the Knights.

The Tigers have already been told that Da Silva will leave the club should they re-sign co-captain Api Koroisau.
Both hookers are off-contract at the end of the next year and the Tigers have already met with the players. There is a belief that the Tigers are torn on which player to keep. At just 20, Da Silva is considered a decade long player and is a local junior.
Koroisau is still among the best players in the game but will be 33 by the time his new deal kicks into place.
The situation differs to that highly publicised fallout between Lachie Galvin and the Tigers with Da Silva wanting to remain at the club – provided he is their no. 1 hooker.

The Knights’ pursuit of Da Silva is an interesting one given Kiwi rake Phoenix Crossland has re-signed until the end of 2028 while Matt Arthur is also contracted to the club until the end of 2027. Long-term hooker Jayden Brailey is Canberra bound at the end of the season.
If Da Silva does sign with Newcastle it may mean Crossland plays more lock given the Knights are struggling to find replacements for a host of forwards departing at the end of the season. Pearce-Paul, Brailey and Leo Thompson will all move on while Adam Elliott, Jack Hetherington and Tyson Frizell face uncertain futures.
Da Silva had been relegated to NSW Cup in recent weeks but has been recalled to the bench to take on the Raiders on Friday night.

That’s a disaster for us if we lose Talyn. This kid is a talent, Api coming to the end of his career. No way I would’ve extended Api past 2026. No foresight whatsoever.

If you have to decide on the younger lion or older lion always pick the young lion. Seriously, Api has had one really good game for us this year. His service has been poor overall, and he's missing a lot of tackles. He can mostly only tackle around the legs now, not up top. He has been great for us on the past but unlike grange hermitage he's not gonna get better with age.

Nice of us to put that development into TDS so the Knights can benefit.

It was obvious we are a feeder club for the richer NRL clubs. Now it looks like we're a feeder club for anyone.

And there's still a strong possibility Api may leave for Perth. It would be just like us to lose both of them.

Is it this one sided ?

I don't know why we can't keep them both. Plus getting KPP for this season may be huge.

Just shows the difference between us and the top clubs. Harry Grant was 20 when he made his NRL debut, only playing 1 game but spent most of the year in QCup. He then spend the entire next year in QCup and played 1 NRL game in Rnd 25. The next year he got loaned to us before returning to Melbourne for the fulltime gig when Cameron Smith retired, at the age of 23.
DaSilva is 20yo and in the exact same position as Grant, but instead of working under Api he wants out now to get a starting spot.

From what I've read the deal Richo put forward originally was a good one, offer Knights Tallyn for the remainder of the year in return for us getting KPP immediately. Tallyn gets game time, Knights plug a hole and so do we.
You never know whats going on behind the scenes but the media reports dont help these young guys, Galvin reportedly didnt like being 2nd fiddle to a 4 time premiership winner, now Tallyn doesn't want to be second fiddle to a 3 time premiership winner.

TDS is a direct info line to the Bulldogs and Gus.. We don’t need that .. I think Benji’s more than happy to swap now..
