When COVID first broke out I read an interim report from a committee who dealt with treatment of covid for invalids. I saw that several members of that committee were either professors on the relevant field or had degrees and qualifications as long as one's arm.
I would sooner trust someone who has spent most of lives studying and researching and have become experts, and not just with the issue at hand, but with a lot of broader medical issues that could come into play if the right treatment is not implemented in the first place.

This is the issue. These big companies earn so much money. They don't want to stop the gravy train from continuing and their technique is to sow doubt.

I think the government advice is typically correct. I think you have to be extremely well educated and to have valid reasons to mistrust that advice however in all of those cases I mentioned the government moved extremely slowly to take the right action. Mate - I think you have the right approach but like science the issue is a little nuanced.



This is the issue. These big companies earn so much money. They don't want to stop the gravy train from continuing and their technique is to sow doubt.

I think the government advice is typically correct. I think you have to be extremely well educated and to have valid reasons to mistrust that advice however in all of those cases I mentioned the government moved extremely slowly to take the right action. The way I see the effects on the world by humans is the world is a sphere and I assume everything from the outer ozone Layer to beneath the earth's crust can to some degree be repaired or rejuvenated.
Because our planet is dependent on certain gases and organic materials, some think we have an endless amount of these resources and the earth will deal with it as it's done before.
Some bi products degrade our planets healing ability.
I can't sit back and listen to people who say everything is ok. We can't drive our planet to an outerspace self service centre and have it stuck out all of the earth's pollution and top up our oxygen levels, filter our oceans etc.
What we've got is what we've got and in a lot of cases it's unreplaceable and becoming unrepairable.
To think it's ok or the problem will go away to me is criminal.

I've said this before but I feel the need to say it again.
WHAT can I do?
I've stated that I turn the lights off when not using them and when everything is finished at night, my partner and I actually enjoy watching TV in the dark.
When I buy electrical appliances, eg an airconditioner, I compare units that have similar cooling capacity then chose the one that has the best energy/star rating.

We have solar hot water panels which is a start.
I try to use the car as least as possible because it's petrol powered.
I walk if I can and do big shops not frequent shops.
I'd love to hear what others are doing because if everyone in Australia did something similar to what I've mentioned then it could help us, it could make a difference.

I think we have to vote correctly firstly. We should be pressuring government to provide clean energy more cheaply than current energy is provided. That should be the goal. It might not happen overnight but that is what needs to happen. The lower cost is just a side benefit.

I keep climate change in the back of mind when doing things but I do things very slowly that cost money. So myself and my wife are the best at not traveling because we don't like to spend money on that. We don't consume a lot because we don't like spending. We eat plant based because the nutritional science says it's good for your health but it's also good for the environment.

Good point. I must admit, I have not looked deep enough into every party's statement on climate change.
Does local government elections have as much impact on this as federal?
