Why would Foxtel pay more for games that are being shared with a competitor, while also getting less games than the competitor?
I give a similar example of paying more and getting less.
Every time time i go to Aldi (supermarket) I pay more than the last time and most times get less. It's the budget. So the reason I pay more is because I NEED food to live, as lack of food causes series illness and death.
If Foxtel does not get he NRL, it's my opinion that the WHOLE EQUATION of Foxtel/kayo profitability comes into play. A large 'chunk' Fox/kayo revenue and so profit is derided form the NRL. So Foxtel and Kayo will entertain paying MORE for less and with competition. Because without it they will have a SLOW DEATH. The NRL decides exclusivity and distributed to who ever they want. So I am saying the NRL decide exclusivity NOW. To make this a better negotiating position the NRL should open a Project about the viability (the IT cost) of streaming themselves. This put extra pressure upon Fox?Kayo.
So how much does Foxtel/Kayo need the NRL. Well that information is available by viewing numbers ( which the NRL are allowed to see? )
Of course they Foxtel/KAyo can pay up big time ($$$$'s) and then the whole point is mute.
If Foxtel does not come up with the amount the NRL wants, then start taking exclusivity off them, while also reminding them they we can the (NRL) stream it ourselves. Prety sure they will play ball.
They can go back to the 5 live and exclusive, ( leaves 4 FTA games) mantra with SuperSaturday...
