Hopefully it will give him his confidence back.

He actually threw a hoppy offload on the weekend. I.e a late offload and we made another 10m.

I think his form is because he's fighting his natural instinct of getting rid of the ball.

Early leak of the Qld team has Hopgood in the 20 man squad.

I'm not sure how he’s even in our first grade team at the moment on form so that’s a massive surprise.
Maroons squad: Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Xavier Coates, Robert Toia, Gehamat Shibasaki, Valentine Holmes, Cameron Munster (c), Tom Dearden, Josh Papali'i, Harry Grant, Tino Fa'asuamaleaui, Reuben Cotter, Kurt Capewell, Trent Loiero, Kurt Mann, Lindsay Collins, Jeremiah Nanai, Pat Carrigan, Reece Walsh, J'maine Hopgood, Josh Kerr

Congrats Dropgood on getting selecting the 20 man squad.

I assume along with Williams for NSW it's because we have the bye this weekend..

So why didn't they pick some random Fins or Tits player ?

View attachment 103697

Because, f**k you that's why!

Probably lots of reasons.. Fins and tits are based in QLD they may want NSW based players? Both those clubs may have given their players time off this week going into the bye and we haven't?

Annnnd it looks like they did add a random Fins player with Kerr ffs

Or Slater rates Hopgood.

FMD trying to extract a positive comment from an Eels forum is hard work.

Do we actually think Hopgood is playing well enough to be selected for SOO this year?

It's the same when Daley brought in all those Panthers nuffies to help in camp.
I think our opinions on how a player is performing are impacted by game results, especially losses, which is something an independant person like Slater, most likely doesn't take into account.

Possibly but even in our few wins he wasn't very good.
I also don't think Slater is a good coach..

The Ranga from the Raiders didn't get picked for QLD but Hopgood did my theory is that having the angry Ranga be the 20th man instead of Hopgood wouldn't benefit him or the club thats why Hopgood and Kerr got picked.

But back to Hopgood I am still of the opinion he will come good for us when he is at 100%

As a Qld supporter I like our side. Still expect you blokes to have too much for us at home, but I like the Hammer at the back, linking up with any broken field play. Shibasaki is in good form too. Good to see Hoppy in the extended team. Hasn’t set the world alight but I’m hoping he finishes the season strong.

If NSW lose next week.

I would sack Daley.

He has this series on a platter and if they bottle this.

He would be 1 series win from 6 origin series as coach.

Its another series loss within this Penrith dynasty NSW have pissed away.

The persistence with Stefano is mind boggling.

Kolomatagi should have been there on the bench.

I thought the actual recipe for success was last year by picking an actual coach not a media pundit who used to be an origin great was there last year.

You have the likes of Matt King who played 9 origins and is an current assistant coach at the roosters & was Madge's 2IC last year more qualified then Daley.

You would also have to start asking questions around the NSWRL muppets who appointed him for a second time - he'd already proven his ineptitude in spades.
Personally think that doubling down on the state coach having no club commitments is the whole reason you end up with a bum like Daley in the first place.

We wont lose mate, take it to the bank...

Game 2 refereeing was a disgrace

Reckon Laurie wins 3-4 series in a row tbh...

Who's the greatest coach in Origin history? Mal Meninga (20 from 30). It shows that coaching is meaningless over such a small sample of games. Bellamy is 2 from 9 ffs.

Since when is Mal a dud coach.

Everyone seems to want to pot him.

He had a 53% winning record at club level before he took the Origin job in 2006 which is the 2nd best win% as coach in Canberra Raiders history.

Most Coaches would take that record in the NRL.

All these recent origin coaches who are media pundits like Daley, Slater, Walters never had NRL experience before taking over Origin and it showed.

Fittler did & won a wooden spoon at the Roosters in 2009.

Bellamy's biggest problem in his origin stint was deep down he struggled to coach against those Storm players he was coaching and got stuck in a cycle of picking shit players.

You’ll note Meninga’s record over 125 games is a lot different to his record over 30. I believe that if he had coached 125 Origin games, his win rate would be a lot closer to his club record.
