NRL 2025: Wests Tigers struggles, Benji Marshall under pressure, Jarome Luai future, Tallyn Da Silva, Lachlan Galvin, news, videos, analysis, Phil Rothfield https://share.google/mKxTpMPzWv9vPjTKN

How a about Jarome Luai and Atkinson as our halves for 2026/ 2027, unfortunately, I'm not in the position of Nick Politis to make it happen!

Under NRL rules, clubs need to have 30 players registered by June 30, but do not have to replace any players who leave after the start of the season.

The Dragons have lost Tom Eisenhuth (retired), Francis Molo (Dolphins) and Mikaele Ravalawa(Rabbitohs) since the start of the campaign, meaning they only needed 27 registered contracts. Finau Latu also left for the Bulldogs, but was on a development deal.

As it stands, they have 26 players as part of their Top 30, meaning they had to lock in an extra promotion before the June 30 deadline, which they have now done with the addition of Tsougranis.

…….

Zero might have this wrong in part ie Latu 99% sure was a top30 player for 2025

DCE is our perfect halfback buy he courd help bring Reed through to first grade and would the ideal partner for five-eighths Atkinson and LKT.

Give DCE what he's asking and make it happen.

A top 4 squad and a reasonable commute to work?
Not sure we could give him what he would want…

Dragons promote and extend contract of NRL debutant

On a development deal this year, Tsougranis was yet to sign on with the Red V into 2026, but the club have now confirmed he has been promoted to the Top 30 for the remainder of 2025, and extended out to 2027.

I would have thought giving Nick T another run off the bench would be a better development idea than using Michael Molo, who I cannot imagine will be retained.

Going to be a cold hard game at Canberra, their forwards will be coming for us. So many of our youngsters out injured. I don't mind packing the team with some older hard heads, with LPT coming off the bench against tired legs hopefully. Nick will get his chances this year.

Well interesting if the young ones hadn’t had such a breakout year, this could be a side that we may have selected bar Holmes and a few others. The thing with our squads is currently there is not a huge degree of variation ( standard deviation for the statistical minded) across many of our squad’s members . This should widen next year as the younger players develop their game further. In the meantime here’s hoping and expecting they give a good account of themselves. Ignore the injury narrative and take it up to them…never know!

Spot on. That one makes zero sense. RFM and Molo are both out the door at the end of the season. Perfect opportunity to rotate Nick and Jacob in the 17 for the rest of the season and build them up

With respect, these older hard heads aren’t exactly blowing the opposition out of the park in reserves and are being let go at the end of the season. Play Nick and Jacob and focus on them for 2026

Micky Molo isnt bad for long minutes, sort of comparable to Lawrie, id prefer Mick but Lawrie has more expereince and as you guys say Mick is on the way out anyway.

It just really depends what hes after from these guys, and you also need a few players capable of longer minutes incase of injuries like we saw last week.

That said I'd definitely have Nick in the 17, hes full of beans with young legs.. and can handle the heavy contact.. and dish it back out... MickM has also been playing 2nd row of late I should mention.. but id play him as a middle and Nick on the edge + middle coverage.. but whatevs.. dont think it matters who we trot out this week, just hope we get out of it without too much damage... I dont think an upset is possible without our 4 youngest high energy players in Egan, Toby, Ryan, Hamish.. but.. never say never etc..

Going to be a tough afternoon mate. Just hope the boys dig in and have a legitimate crack. Last thing we need is another 50 pt hammering
