Yeah but somehow are immune to having a rest on the bench. (Apart from a sox
Minute rest for Tieg). Fitz has no idea how to adjust his bank rotation from ‘both backrowers play 80 mins do not deviate’

It’s ok to complain about players let go Willians, Tracey but everyone here was baying for them to not be re-signed. How come they shine at a new club?

I'm going to use that as an Album Title haha
All jokes aside, that's what it looks like with fiz's points. I've always thought it about the ground and the shenanigans with the leagues club fuels my suspicions/tin foil conspiracy. We went to Kogarah for 2 years and came back to worse facilities, that is simply ridiculous for a professional sporting team.

I've always hated the thing with Newtown, I can barely consider it our team and wonder if players are coming in with zero understanding of what the first grade coaching staff want (I'll ignore my thoughts on our coaching staff but you get what I mean)

Magic wand - I’m winding up the club.

It’s clear there isn’t really a future at the ground they’re at, and I don’t trust the board to change that.

Football related - I’m moving on from Fitz. He shows he doesn’t have the balls to hold players accountable.

I asked ChatGPT how to fix us

The Cronulla Sharks face several roster challenges that, if addressed strategically, could enhance their competitiveness in the NRL. Here's an analysis of the key issues and potential solutions:

Key Roster Challenges

1. Leadership Void

The mid-season retirement of co-captain Dale Finucane in 2024 left a significant leadership gap. While Cameron McInnes continues as captain, the team has struggled with consistency, particularly during form slumps. This has raised concerns about the depth of leadership within the squad

2. Underperformance in Finals

Despite strong regular-season performances, the Sharks have not won a finals match since 2018, experiencing consecutive straight-sets exits. This pattern suggests issues with handling high-pressure situations and adapting strategies during crucial games

3. Salary Cap Constraints

The club faces salary cap pressures, with over a dozen players off-contract at the end of 2025, including key players like fullback Will Kennedy. This situation may force difficult decisions regarding player retention and recruitment

4. Limited Squad Turnover

The Sharks have maintained a relatively stable roster over the past four seasons, with minimal player turnover. While this stability can be beneficial, it may also lead to stagnation and a lack of fresh talent to invigorate the team

Strategic Solutions

1. Develop Emerging Leaders

Invest in leadership development programs for emerging players to cultivate a new generation of leaders. Encouraging players to take on greater responsibilities can help fill the leadership void and promote a resilient team culture.

2. Enhance Mental Resilience

Implement sports psychology initiatives to improve the team's performance under pressure. Focusing on mental toughness can help players better handle the stresses of finals football and break the cycle of early exits.

3. Proactive Roster Management

Begin negotiations early with off-contract players to secure key talents before they enter free agency. Additionally, identify and recruit emerging talents to inject new energy into the squad, ensuring a balance between experience and youth.

4. Optimize Salary Cap Usage

Conduct a thorough review of the salary cap allocation to identify areas where funds can be reallocated more effectively. This may involve making tough decisions on releasing or trading players to free up space for strategic signings.

You saved me the time of doing my own list, as I agree with this completely. And Wilton is only there by the skin of his teeth at the moment - he’s a bit ‘meh’ right now, but I think he’s got real potential, just similar to everyone else in our squad, the coaching ain’t bringing out that potential.

I'm at the point where I agree wholeheartedly, there's no point going with the status quo just because its the way its always been.

Stick a few players you want to move on in reserve grade and they'll be crying to their managers to find them another club quick fast, you see it at other clubs so why not here.

How easy is it to get to you can catch a train to central and a tram to the ground, i think the writing is on the wall it's going to happen.

Doubt we’ll have much of a chance to move on overpaid/ underperforming players until the Bears come in in ‘27. I might be talking out my arse but without having seen Fitz’s presser I feel that despite the score line…. The effort last week was one of our better efforts recently. Reminded me of a game against the Riff last year where they belted us maybe 40-6 but we improved significantly the next few weeks. Don’t want to make excuses but when we line up for our next game at home in Round 19…. We will have only played 5 games at Shark Park at that point.

Has the coaching staff clocked of knowing some of our players are going backwards and will not be with us in 2026. Sort of a bit like Manly.

I reckon the travel/lack of home games has been a bit of an excuse for the squad. They framed it as a chance to bond but it has come up enough to know that it is a thing for them. However, the travel was largely club induced. Volunteered for Vegas and Perth. Magic round was a home game. The shit hole ground makes it easy for the Board to take opportunities for a pay day elsewhere.

We could have said we don't want to be involved in magic round, case being we travelled earlier in the year.
And that would have also kept a home game for us
