Rumoured Targets 3

He’s getting $500K a season to go play footy in France & be the big star on that team. That would have been the bid we’d have to beat. I don’t see why we would have done that. Shed no tears.

It’s been a feature of Knights teams for a while that we always have a guy who would struggle to crack 30 seconds in the 100m dash. Hastings has been that guy for us for the last few years, taking over from David Klemmer, who took the baton from Chris Heighington before that.

With Hastings leaving & uncertainty at hooker it sounded like Reed was going to fill that void for us. But we’ve missed out. And Toby Sexton is off to France. Now what are we going to do?

Thankfully Mahoney has signed for the Cowboys.
Is it? We got Brailey who is off playing there at the moment being subbed in by Crossland who looks our best option at 13. Got a untested tiny 19 year old as our only option at hooker if Brailey gets injured again.

We made plays at both TDS and Reed so it does look like we are in the hunt for a hooker. Owen Pattie looks like the dream signing (reminds me of Harry Grant) but probably never available for us.

We made a play for Mahoney?
I’m pretty sure we may have been looking at him but not sure we made an actual offer…

2026 is looking grim unfortunately. I hope POS knows what he is doing because as it stands, that forward pack is going to get demolished big time next year

There’s no indication we made a play for Reed. The talk came from a Toohey article where he asked the club if they’d consider Reed and didn’t deny it. Big difference between that and making a big play. Toohey also said TDS is still living at home with his parents so very unlikely he was ever going to leave Sydney.

We’re definitely on the hunt for a hooker but I never ever wanted Mahoney. He’s overrated and a dickhead to boot. Players Gamble who have a bit of niggle in them I like, but Reed’s just a thug and I’d have a hard time supporting him.

Hope you enjoy rooting for big fat no one because that's who's going to be playing hooker for us.

Plenty of time for signings for 2026

Only two spots left if friz and gags end up re-signing. Think it's a given we're running a very inexperienced pack in 2026. Only 4 forwards with more than 50 first grade games as it stands:

Tom Cant
Mat Croker
Phoenix Crossland

Lachlan Crouch
Cody Hopwood
Brodie Jones
Dylan Lucas
Francis Manuleleua
Jermaine McEwen
Jacob Saifiti
Elijah Salesa-Leaumoana
Wil Sullivan

Is it confirmed all those guys are in the top 30 for 2026?

From what I could find it looks like the below but I could be misinformed. If Friz, Gags and McCarthy stay its 3 spots for 2026

1. Kalyn Ponga
2. Greg Marzhew
3. Fletcher Hunt
4. Bradman Best
5. Dominic Young
6. Fletcher Sharpe
7. Dylan Brown
8. Jacob Saifiti
9. Phoenix Crossland
10. Cody Hopwood
11. Thomas Cant
12. Dylan Lucas
13. Brodie Jones

14. Matt Arthur
15. Jermaine McEwen
16. Mat Croker
17. Francis Manuleleua

18. Elijah Salesa-Leaumoana
19. Tyson Gamble
20. Wilson De Courcey
21. Jack Cogger
22. Wil Sullivan
23. James Schiller
24. Taj Annan
25. No player signed.
26. No player signed.
27. No player signed.
28. No player signed.
29. No player signed.
30. No player signed.

The club is on the right track with these juniors we are keeping. They are quality. We cannot keep chasing our tails by forever allowing our top juniors get poached.

Yep. Your list missing Peter Hola who Toohey confirmed as being signed this week and Lachlan Crouch who arrived from the Sharks and played Cup today. And swap McCarthy for Hunt, Hunt only on a development deal next year.

Thing is our cap never should have been this f**ked based on the quality of the squad we’ve had in recent years. We’ve been overpaying everyone and anyone for years which has prevented us from having any depth whatsoever which we’re now suffering from those poor decisions. We finally seem to be on the right track re not making the same mistakes that f**ked up our cap to begin with, but just extremely frustrating we’ve forced ourselves into another rebuild.

Oh 100% we’ve done it to ourselves.

Being a Knights fan would be the toughest gig in the NRL.
