Not a fair comparison though because we were expected to be on the same level as the Raiders in Vegas. The NRLW team were a new side of mostly NRLW debutantes playing the defending premiers. It was pretty inevitable that they’re going to take a while to gel and get up to speed as a team.Didn’t see the game at all so can’t comment on that, but what I have heard on the radio this morning shows the great difference between how the media cover women’s sport in this country
Warriors get smoked in Vegas, they are absolutely awful and slated relentlessly. The Women’s side got smoked and all I heard from the ‘experts’ was how “magnificent’ they were
Women’s cricket side have been awful for years but had a free run for a while too. Understand they aren’t as professional etc but always notice the double standards from the talking heads
Yep understand that, but were they “magnificent” and “amazing” ?Not a fair comparison though because we were expected to be on the same level as the Raiders in Vegas. Just something I’ve noticed over the years as women’s sport is more heavily promoted and supported, they don’t have the same scrutiny put on performance.
I hear you. I think it follows the $ - in a sport like tennis where pay is equal, women are absolutely criticized. But these girls I would imagine are getting what, one fifth of what the guys are getting? The highest paid player at the Warriors, is probably $200k in the women's side? It's chicken and egg I guess, if they're prepared to cop the criticism, the interest may grow.Yep understand that, but were they “magnificent” and “amazing” ?

I think a lot of people felt good about them cos it was new, getting back to pre covid days and the men had a bye. I went to watch the game at Full Time in Kingsland. It was full of people who were there for the game, they had the sound on loud and all the bar staff in Warriors jerseys. It was a good vibe even though the Warriors were pretty underwhelming. It's their first game as a team and some of them first game of league ever and it showed with lots of handling errors and the exact same try getting laid on three times in a row. There was plenty of cause to be optimistic for improvement and being a Warriors follower has always called for optimism and patience.
This weekend at Mt Smart at home with a big crowd and perhaps easier opposition should be goodie
