Depends who picks the team.

Mal was big on Origin performances. Even though lots of football is played before the tests. He ain't the coach anymore which may have some impact on what kind of squad we will see. The selectors are still the same though.

Cleary, Moses, Burton and Dearden made the squad last year. Ben Hunt will be one guy who will miss out.

I think we see forward upheaval. Angus Crichton, Cameron Murray and Lindsay Smith won't be picked according to my crystal ball.

I hope not for our sake. Martin has bailed on the tour for the birth of a kid.........not that he should be anywhere near the Australian squad. Hopefully they don't pick Dyl.

Captain Yeo will hopefully be our only player going.

Yeah as much as I want a real pre season no chance Yeo doesn't get picked as the best player in the game.

How many World Cups and Premierships have those blokes racked up?

To be fair Thurston only got 1.5 premierships and Joey 2 and we don't doubt their quality. The question you've gotta answer is if cleary can do it outside the panthers system. I think yes and that this series was bad coaching both tactics and selections but I'm biased

All I'm getting at is that old saying perception is fact and Nathan is building a negative reputation with origin.
Completely understand your viewpoint and agree - I think, for me and seemingly a lot of others, we just don't care.

Nath can get hung out to dry every year at the SOS level and I, personally, couldn't give a rats proverbial. As long as we keep playing like the juggernauts we are at club level.

great question

I think he improves the chances of fringe teams. Imagine if teams like Manly or Cronulla got Cleary for 2 years. Or the Dogs. All 3 of these would definately be in a premiership window. Mayyybeee Souths, NZ ???

Does he improve the prospects of Melbourne? Probably not.

Does he open a premiership window for the next level of teams, Dragons, Knights, Eels etc. doubtful

Completely agree with that I'm the same on a personal level. I'd have his babies if he asked these past 5 years have been everything a football fan can dream of.

Isn’t the team selected by both nsw and qld selectors over the years there has been debate over several selections .QLD winning may give them a few line ball selections

Not all of us really care that much about the legacy of NC or other individual players. As long as Penrith have successful seasons and win premierships, that's what I care about. The individual accolades are a bonus for those players and the fans who really support them as favourites.
Joey Johns is an immortal, but he only won 1 proper premiership with the other being half a comp. Point made.
There was a snowflakes chance in hell the Knights would have beaten the Broncos that year. They were the best team in both competitions by quite some distance.

That's what they say. Though I'd be pretty sure the head coach will have some input. Likewise for the SOO series.

The current selection panel for the international team includes PVL which is hilarious. If the NSW and QLD selectors can't decide who should be picked then PVL makes the call. I'd like to think that he wouldn't need to be consulted.

To'o and Yeo are the players that history will judge as our best.

To'o in particular is already the best winger of all time.

Both To'o and Yeo are up there with the best humans to ever play the game as well. Both for different reasons, but they are both legends in every way. As footy players To'o is ahead of everyone I've ever see play, Yeo and Clyde are pretty close, being on the same level as Clyde is certainly no slight though.

Nathan is elite, but it's because he puts in so much work. If he had of been blessed with half of Joeys natural talent the guy would be unbeatable at any level.

As I've said many times before Nath is a better Cooper Cronk. Someone like my boy Matty Moylan has 10x the ball playing talent but that's not everything is it.

Moylan is a good example, if he wasn't afraid of contact and had Nathans work ethic he could have been elite.

Still was elite for a time. Compete carried our side for a few years there
No argument there, I loved him for most of his time here.

It still used to make me laugh at the death stare he would throw at Sauce or DWZ when he had to take a tackle on a kick return when the kick chase wasn't staggered, it looked like one of them had just pissed in his coco pops.
