Easts Tigers are too big to not be in the NRL

I love the parochialism

Im as nswrl are they come and I couldn’t give a stuff about it

Anything that stands in the way of nrl progression is a bad thing

Qrl clubs want the players from nrl clubs to bolster their weak squads

If qld clubs want to foster their players amongst multiple clubs they are a a disadvantage to Sydney clubs who run a streamlined system
The NRL is not Rugby League.

Once you weaken region RL, the whole thing comes crashing down, and the standard falls off a cliff.

Cairns Kangaroos produce more rep players than the Dragons, Eels and Tigers.

You want reserve garde and a third tier comp?

With what cash?
reserve grade wouldnt be second tier, it'd be seen as development tier. The second tier would be a well marketed, regionally focused semi pro league legitimate competition made up of two conferences..

With the $200mill cash cow Vlad is expecting from the next tv deal!

AFL fans like @Wb1234 try to give them so much credit for the Brisbane situation, when it was no more than pure dumb luck.

Same as the PNG bullshit, V'landys lucked into something.

Reserve grade is a branding issue as much as anything else.
We have a great second tier, with almost thirty clubs across three nations. We don't have to kill that to succeed.

First tier:
-NRL Premiership

Second tier:
-NRL Championship (North)
Current QLD Cup + allow the Cows, Donks and Tits to run their own branded clubs in it. Let Redcliffe use 'Redcliffe' at all levels.

-NRL Championship (South)
Current NSW Cup + some NSW country clubs, eventually add Melbourne, Christchurch & Wellington) Aim for 16-18 clubs in time.

Not a perfect solution but it keeps both sides happy to a degree, there's enough money in the game to support it. Importantly it means we're not losing historic clubs and key regional pathways for short-term solutions.

It also allows expansion clubs to come up through the ranks and for failed clubs to drop down if it's ever needed.

Some time later, it could even develop some "inter-league" play.. whether that's a Nines tournament or some kinda integrated playoffs or even some cross-over rounds.

What we currently have with the State Championship game being played on Grand Final day is the tip of the iceberg as far as what COULD be done between the two competitions.

Changing names is just shuffling deck chairs. Doesnt offer a legit comp, doesn't give clubs not aligned with an NRL club any hope of competing, doesnt give regional NSW towns without an NRl club a club to follow, doesnt offer a high quality reserve grade for every club.

It literally does every single thing you said it doesn't do. It's been doing these things for a hundred years, what's been suggested will only highlight an improve on all those benefits.
Are you drunk?

Won’t work.

At the end of the day it’s still the Q Cup sides that feed all the way down to Cyril Connell Cup and in respect to most regional Q Cup clubs; they have entire local comps (with local clubs and junior clubs) that feed into their junior squads pathways. IE Jets with Ipswich Rugby League, Cutters with Mackay District Rugby League, Pride with FNQ Rugby League and so on and so forth.

Adding Broncos, Titans and Cowboys to Q-Cup or lipstick on a pig NRL Championship North whilst the Blackhawks, Wynnums, Tweeds etc of this world exist doesn’t change the fact that the pathways come from those Q Cup sides. Then what? They develop them, pay for them, but the reserve grade sides under Broncos Titans Cowboys brands benefit for their lack of efforts or care?

Unless those 3 NRL clubs invest all the way down in Mal Meninga and Cyril Connell then this NRL championship aka Q Cup with lipstick is redundant. Because if those 3 clubs do streamline their own branded reserves and pathways then instead of having 2 or 3 different Q Cup clubs and those clubs regional RL competitions leading into their NRL club then they’d potentially only have 1. It limits them and in turn limits the output of those Q Cup clubs.

Its all synergetic relationships. People are really over thinking this. It’s working, why change it? Who pays for the change?

100% make sense. i thinks people are over thinking it and underestimating the enormous job it would take to streamline clubs that have never had flow through grades (in the new era of rl)

yeh let’s spend a billion on Suncorp for Olympic soccer and rugby 7’s lol
Opening and closing ceremonies

Plus have a legacy post Olympics not as a white elephant

We will have had two Olympic Games in our lifetimes in rugby league states with over 5 billion spent on new stadiums that don’t benefit rugby league like they could

Learnt nothing from the mistakes of Sydney
