Yep. I f you are going to argue that a game should be shifted to the SFS it’s this one. They play it there every other year so why not?Dragons almost slipping into Shark territory with that crowd, they should do better and are a complete myth along with the Tigers that they are a "sleeping giant".
Is the current venue a turn off to Sharks fans? Like you said they have the fans but they aren't turning up atm. You would think they would do a Manly and fill the joint every week with the limited capacity, but obviously some fans are turned off from attending. And yet when the stadium didn’t have reduced capacity the club crowd average was way higher

It's a shame because at the end of the day, it hurts the Sharks bottom line when they are already in a shit situation.. As a Rugby League fan, I just hope they can find the funding to fix up the joint.
I don't want to see them move away from Shark Park full time. I'm just asking as someone who hasn't attended that place in over a decade if the lack of modern facilities are a turn off for Sharks fans who would normally attend? You can't help but compare them with Manly who have done such a brilliant job of getting their fans to attend since that new stand has opened. Whilst the LC will be a huge boost when it opens, it won't fix the actual issues with the stadium itself. As much as we hate it it’s their home ground which they own
They are spending 19 million on the lc reno plus have installed new corporate stuff
Not every club is the broncos.
Once the reno is done they will average 15k again plus have a brand new leagues club for people to go too after and before the game
I argued exactly that earlier in the thread. Dragons kogarah crowds are as bad if not worse than sharks crowds.Yep. I f you are going to argue that a game should be shifted to the SFS it’s this one. They play it there every other year so why not?
And you're ok with a 15k average? As much as we hate it it’s their home ground which they own

The old lc had this grimy bar under the Peter burns stand and an outdoor garden type area. I imagine the new facilities will be far superior
In different competitions different clubs have different ground capacities. The EPL says hello. It’s only a concern for those obsessed by these things and then choose to endlessly complain about them. The sea eagles are in exactly the same situation. You can either accept the difference or endlessly complain about it.And you're ok with a 15k average?
They are going to be left behind the likes of dogs, Parramatta, roosters, souths (if they go to SFS) and Penrith who are all going to average 20k at minimum and 25k plus in good seasons.
15k with no rent and two leagues clubsAnd you're ok with a 15k average?

Yes it’s easy to judge other clubs when you are gifted a magnificent tax payer funded stadium like that smack bang in your back yard.15k with no rent and two leagues clubs
The take out the rent other clubs pay
Maybe they could take one or two games a year to Allianz but their fans didn’t travel to kogarah why would you expect them to travel places further out
Centralised stadiums won’t work in Sydney
Clubs playing games in their territory is one of the reasons the nswrl was formed
You’re just lucky the nsw govt built an 800 million stadium right next to your old ground
Penrith are getting a new ground since travelling to parra doesn’t work

I'm honestly not trying to stir the pot here but according to https://www.rugbyleagueproject.org/teams/cronulla-sutherland-sharks/seasons.html (crowd averages on the far right) the Sharks have averaged over 14k twice in their history. My concern is that through this recent period of post-covid crowd growth, circumstances have seen the Sharks miss the boat. Maybe when capacity permits it they'll have a surge to a level above their previous averages, but I don't think it's a given. As much as we hate it it’s their home ground which they own

That's a good point. However there will come a day when pokies will be banned so it's not the worst idea to grow the club to the point where they don't need to rely on that money. Taking a game to the SFS or moving a game to a city like Adelaide or Christchurch (against the Warriors) could potentially work. Continuing to build their memberships is another option.15k with no rent and two leagues clubs

In fairness, the Dragons fans aren't exactly turning up in numbers to Kogarah either.Maybe they could take one or two games a year to Allianz but their fans didn’t travel to kogarah why would you expect them to travel places further out
It works for some, not for all. Clubs like Manly, Sharks, and Penrith need their own venues but the rest of the Sydney clubs don't need to.Centralised stadiums won’t work in Sydney
I still think it's ridiculous that the Roosters are the only NRL team that use Allianz full-time. I really hope the Bunnies are successful in convincing the government to move back there full-time.Clubs playing games in their territory is one of the reasons the nswrl was formed
You’re just lucky the nsw govt built an 800 million stadium right next to your old ground
Penrith have actually impressed me with their crowds at Parramatta. They are doing better than some of the other Sydney clubs. Really looking forward to seeing what their crowds are like at the new venue.Penrith are getting a new ground since travelling to parra doesn’t work
I agree with that. Sharks need two games a year at the SFS but they need to be well promoted and against the right opposition. We both need to somehow incentivise our respective fanbases to getting numbers to the SFS at least twice a year.
Pointless taking Titans or Cowboys games there.
Need to be a bigger drawing game. Hopefully once the Bears come back Manly will take at least that home game to the SFS.

Two games a year at SFS is all I'm advocating for. I'm well aware of why sharks fans want their games at shark Park and the culture if the area having loved their most of my life.15k with no rent and two leagues clubs

You make a really good point. I've heard nothing but good things about the game day experience at Brooky. It’s a bit simplistic to compare Manly and Cronulla IMO.
Aside from the fact Manly has a fully operational stadium (with a new stand) and Leagues Club, Brookvale offers a far superior game day experience with over a dozen breweries and a similar number of coffee roasters within walking distance. So depending on the time of the game, Brookvale offers and excellent pre or post game bevvie opportunities. Arguably one of the best in Sydney.
Compare that to the current situation at Woolaware, where your primary means of entertainment is either navigating the car park or queueing for the bus. Salubrious.
