Sounds like O’Brien is being let go at the end of the season

Talk around Ponga being shopped around to European rugby too

The Knights would be a red hot go at the spoon given Ponga, Sharpe and Lucas are all out for the season, and the coach is a dead man walking, too...but the Titans would have to win a game for that to happen

The fact that we play the Titans twice worries me a bit. They can be bloody dangerous.

Was listening to 100% Footy earlier. Panthers on a 5 game winning streak, with their next 4 games being Souths, Tigers, Titans and Knights. Could be really knocking on the top 4 door after that

problem for them and the Broncos is the team most likely to drop from the top 4 (us) pretty much has a dream draw in the run home

On paper you'd think that but they're an absolute basket case. Won four games, 2 v the Knights, and one in the last 2 months. I know there's always a reticence to talk yourself up - hell, we lost 66-6 there last year - but if you're picking a team to play twice, especially given our local support at Robina, you'd have to think you'd go the Titans, or maybe the Eels at a push.

Broncos have won 5 in a row too. Has Buzz quietened down about Madge?
He drinks, so I imagine he's forgotten. Typical media, beat their chest if they got something right but it's ancient history if they got it horribly wrong.

Ah man the Panthers...3 teams during Origin period (us, the Tigers and Eels) had the opportunity to kill them off and couldn't manage it. I don't think they'll finish top 4 but hell, no one wants to be playing them in week 2 of the finals.

Couple of interesting things I saw last night

Ponga, win percentage for the Knights when he plays, 43%. win percentage when he doesn’t play, 45%. That’s over a big sample size, and a bit of an alarming stat considering he is reportedly the highest paid player in the comp and his absence isn’t making a difference

The Eels told Dylan Brown that he could go to the knights before June 30, and that there wasn’t a guaranteed spot of him the rest of the season. He chose to stay, started at hooker last week, and is left out of the side this week

Man I feel for Sexton.. dude led them to 9-2 and top of the table before boy wonder joined but now doesnt even make the 17.

The narrative around a lack of attacking spark with him at 7 (dunno if thats direct from Ciraldo though?) seems odd too... they averaged 25pts pg before Galvin, but have only managed 18ppg since.

If anything has disrupted their play, it's the uncertainty Gould and Ciraldo brought into the fold.

Sexton did a job, but the ceiling is relatively low... They want to win a premiership now, and have to make a decision, the week-to-week uncertainty is the problem as you note, Ciraldo has made his call, needs to stick with it for a bit - guess he knows he has a serviceable replacement, but probably also knows he can't win the comp with Sexton a 7

Yea you're right mate.. there'll be much more to it than just ppg and making tough calls is part of the gig. If it works he'll be a genius, if it doesnt... well the fallout is part of the gig too. Still feel terrible for Sexton but props to Ciraldo for putting his nads on the line.

Another reminder of how ruthless the game can be though isn’t it. Players leaving contracts early has been a hot topic recently, but this is the flip side of the coin…. if a shiny new toy catches the boss’s eye, even hard work and wins might not be enough to save you.
