I actually enjoyed Superman more than I thought I would
Loved the upbeat positive tone in the Reeves mould of Superman. Gunn nailed the character
And I have to say the best live action Lex I’ve seen, that’s hatred from him was off the charts and I loved that lol
Mr Terrific was well…. terrific.

I just wish the exposition was done better, I don’t like the words on the screen. Specifically the Superman stoping the war part, I wish they showed us him stopping the war at the begging considering it was a big part of the movie

And I hope there’s a twist with his kryptonian parents in sequels.

The only slight negative to this film was the "promise" of one particular character I found annoying getting more screen time in a possible sequel. I won't spoil it but I hope they don't go that direction with the franchise.

Don’t worry about screen time, that character will get their own movie I think. But the portrayal is based on a specific comic.

I hope you're right. The character seems annoying from the get-go.

My Superman Rankings

1. Superman 2 (both cuts)
2. Superman (Reeves)
3. Superman 3
4. Superman (2025)
5. Superman 4 (I know it's a dogs breakfast, but still more entertaining than the ones below)
6. Man of Steel
7. Justice League (Synder-cut)
8. Man of Steel
9. Batman V Superman
10. Superman Returns (Routh)

First four selections are very good......diminishing returns from there.

Here is my order not counting superman 2025

Superman The Movie A classic film that actually was credited for
starting the modern era of super hero movies.

Superman 2 I like both versions but prefer the the Donner cut, only because it emphasises the father son bond.

Superman Returns Okay I get it was a bit to slow and it copied Superman the movie, I actually found this film very spiritual.
It would have been better if Singer included the deleted scene where Superman goes to his home planet, he should have used it at start of the film before the opening credits.

Superman 3 It would have been interesting if Richard Donner got to direct this film we would have got a very different movie, instead Superman fighting a computer, I think it would have been brainiac.
Still nit a bad film doesn't deserve the bad press the film copped.

Man of Steel (2013) Again i quite enjoyed this film, A very different take on Superman.

Justice League (Snyder cut) Totally better than the theatrical cut of Justice league.

Suoerman 4 If you go on You-Tube you can actually watch the original version of this film, Even Christopher Reeves hated it

Straight off the bat, I’m a fan of the Snyder movies, I grew up watching Chris Reeve, and I loved Superman Returns on initial release but think it’s just ok-good on repeat viewings.

I did not enjoy this new Superman movie much. Lex is good, a few scenes were good, but overall I found it far too goofy and too overstuffed with characters and pointless and unfunny jokes.
I didn’t have high hopes for this from the start. Not a fan of the suit and having Krypto just made the universe a bit too silly for me. I was hoping to be surprised and enjoy it, but unfortunately, it wasn’t for me.

The general consensus I have found is that there is very much a divide in the way fans think Superman should be portrayed, hence the divide in opinion.

The people that love the Synderverse tend to not like this film.....or think its okay but prefer the Cavill version.

The people that prefer the Reeves version (like myself) tend to give the new version a lot more love. Apart from the cameo towards the end from an annoying character, I loved what I saw.

I'm in the I absolutely hate the Snyderverse movies camp, his Justice League was by some distance the worst movie I saw the year it came out. Man of Steel and Batman v Superman were both shit. In fact it's hard for me to decide which out of JL and BvS is worst.

So, with that out of the way, this one was much better in comparison, even though it took a while to get going. Did Superman well and did Gunn's stuff (comedy, music) well too.

Gladiator 2 - been putting off watching this because I was so confident it would be a turd.

However take away the facts that it didn’t add anything to the original, it was pointless and didn't need to be made… I didn’t mind it at all, take it on its merits and it was an enjoyable flick.

I love Denzel but hated him in this though, poor casting…. not sure why they told him to just run with his yank accent the whole movie.
I thought Denzel was the only good thing in the movie, he was chewing the scenery, but that was needed with the dour performance by Mescal (who is actually really good in most things).

Each to their own.... don't get me wrong I love Denzel, who doesn't? but everytime he was on screen in this it just reminded me that I was watching a movie.

Agree on the bold, and actually agree on the second sentence, when he was not on screen I thought I was watching paint dry instead of a movie. :p
