For me, that would be like St George winning 15 premiership over again and putting an end to the last 15 years of misery.
In the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit I hope it happens.
Many long-term fans also hope it happens. One thing, we don't want is for Craig Young and Peter Doust to have any inolvement.

TBH I wouldn’t mind, just to have our true record reinstated, we could do the 2 finger salute to every NRL club, at school I'd cop "Stop Living in Past", now we get "you have only won 1 premiership", I rather live in the Past with 15, and for those original Illawarra supporters that are not happy, go follow the Dolphins.

Captn and Red v 13 its time you Illawarra steelers supporters wake up your team was long gone years ago . No history or premierships only 1 GF thanks to the Dragons excepting the Nrl 11 million take over to save the steelers with a JV .
Dragons DNA is bringing back our history and 15 premierships sick of hearing panthers 4 years not even close to the St George Dragons team in history of any sport winning 11 premierships in a row.

As an original St George supporter, I hope if the JV ever breaks up it turns into Illawarra Steelers. That way, dickheads like John moz who've spent the last couple of decades trying to tear the club apart, can f**k off for good.

There are 17 other clubs to go and follow if you don't like the idea of the 15-time premiership-winning St George Dragons being reinstated.
Go Follow Scumulla with 1 premiership or
you can go follow the Rabbitohs with 21. But hey it might be you already follow those teams already, I really couldn't see why anyone would opposed the idea of going back to originals with an amazing record.

Wow this in fighting is fun to read.

Shame the NRL probably wouldn’t support the change. I suspect they will want the Illawarra firmly represented, not so much the old Dragons stomping grounds.

Anyway, if you guys want to hand the entire Illawarra to the Sharks we will take it and you guys can have Kogarah area. The Tarj is there and lots of great memories.

I support the St George Illawarra Dragons thanks. If you don't like it, you are also quite welcome to go follow one of the other clubs.

Let me add before the merge, the St George Dragons had the second biggest supporter base behind the Donkeys, I believe that if the joint venture was dissolved tomorrow only 1% of the current JV supporter base would cease to follow the true Champion club (St George Dragons). Games played at win stadium would continue to attract the same crowds.
The Current JV setup is a complete FAILURE!

Illawarra had roughly the same crowd average as St George throughout the 90s. If St George's fan base was so big, why didn't the fans turn up?

The only failure is so-called "fans" like you who have been trying to tear the club apart for decades.

The club is already torn up, its a shit show, the idea of the joint venture was to make it a super club, however Melbourne Storm turned into that super club, St George Illawarra Sheila's has the spirit of the old Souless 0 premiership Steelers!

Not sure the need to use a female term as an insult is the right move.

Firstly:

It’s misogynistic

Secondly:

NRL Men’s team currently 11th on the ladder.
NRL Women’s team currently 5th on the ladder.

And I expect that gulf to get wider today.

If only our men’s team played with half the spirit and talent of our women’s team…..

Gee, there is some nonsense on this Dragons forum. I come from the Steelers side of the merger. Illawarra Steelers were only in the comp for 17 years. The last four of those years were impacted by Super League. Looking back on it, Illawarra Steelers were a fledgling club. They didn't get the chance to evolve as a club. It takes decades for a footy club to become established.

Hypothetically if there was a demerger, chances are Win Corp would be the owner of the Steelers. Steelers will go back to having a full allocation of games at Win. Win Stadium most likely would get funding and turn it into an all seater venue. Also Win is under the VenusNSW umbrella as a regional ground.

Meanwhile St.George Dragons will also be full time at Kogarah Oval, however would Kogarah get funding for an upgrade? It is just another Sydney suburban ground like Brookvale, Campbelltown, Leichhardt and is not under VenusNSW. Which now leads me to the reality of St.George Illawarra Dragons. What is the future of Kogarah Oval?

If Kogarah doesn't receive any funding, then majority of the Sydney games should move to Allianz stadium. Chance for the club to generate more revenue and become more financially strong. As for Win, three grandstands have been built over the last 33 years. The last upgrade was 15 years ago. Although Win stadium does lack top tier sporting content. Maybe a demerger could fix it.

At the end of the day, we need to come up with solutions on how St.George Illawarra Dragons can be successful, rather than just tear it apart and endlessly blame one side.

Jealousy is the only reason for not recognising our complete history. Manly lost nothing when they dropped North Sydney, Canterbury-Bankstown Berries lost nothing with they changed to the Canterbury Bulldogs, and Souths lost nothing when they were kicked out of the competition due to financial concerns.

In my opinion the St George Illawarra thing could have worked if:
1. If Illawarra were made a feeder club rather than a JV.
2. If the St George history was not compromised.
3. If the St George Board did a Panthers and secured/supported/owned league clubs in the district.
4. If 16-year-old Juniors were awarded 5 year RL scholarships and the associated professional football training to go with it.
