It may be a decent stopgap but your then taking Walker away from his current strengths which is ball playing middle forward/lock.

Walker was a 5/8 for years at Manly and was dogshit in that role.

Now he is better player now but i would say his best footy has been what he is currently doing coming off the bench or playing the 13 role.

Why move him away from what he is doing currently very well.
Agreed. In the same way, we lose a lot in the middle when Williams plays on the edge.

I’d happily take Doueihi for 1 year plus an option in club favour. He can cover centre, half, edge, lock and probably 9 if need be. He’s not a superstar but he’s the type of guy that all squads need. Reliable but not big $$.
The issue with Douehie would be that he would likely be our first choice centre, five-eighth, and edge given our squad.

Which means he won't be as cheap as merkins might think. Demand for first graders is increasing significantly without any real change in the supply. Maybe a few Aussies will come back from the UK to fill top 17 spots, but they aren't first graders or they wouldn't be in the UK. There aren't enough NRL players for 17 clubs much less the 19 we're going to have.

The continual no look pass and lack of taking on the line was frustrating to watch. He made that one nice short kick and that’s all I noticed. He’s nothing special.
It’s silly to make a call on his future, so I don’t get that. He might be special.

What I also don’t get is his “just go out there and play footy” instruction from the coach. I would have thought that games 1-3 or 4 would have been better to get used to the (lack of) space as 5/8, make your tackles and just run. This playmaker thing he was trying to (badly) do made no sense to me.

But hey, that’s why I’m not a NRL coach. Maybe going out there and being clunky is the quick route to ironing out the bugs.

Our current coach might not be around much longer if he keeps throwing the season away and steering us towards the spoon. I don’t understand how, even with a mathematical chance of making the 8, he leaves out our best number 6. Just because he’s on the way out doesn’t mean he gets to run pointless experiments and tank the year.

That wouldn’t be tolerated in any other professional sport — but somehow it’s acceptable at our club.

Well you know my view on that. Brown is one of the best players in our club not trying and with one arm tied behind his back.

Russell was his usual plain hamburger self. He is not our future either. Brown should have been centre. Next week, find a different place in the 17 for Brown to play. Repeat.

I think he's given a pass for this year, but from next year he gets the players he wants and the team must perform accordingly.

If in 12 months time we're not in contention for the Top 8, which I dont expect to be with this squad the way it is, then he should be shown the door.

As everyone knows I’m no fan of Brown but he is still better at 6 than any other player at our club. He MUST play. Also WTF is happening with Lane? He’s just allowed to have a sickie without an end date ?

Only at Parra.

He won't be here next year or the year after that so if we can at least cross out Joash over the next few weeks it will be worth it.
We aren't making the finals so time to start building for the future and stop spinning our wheels..

Lane / Matto need to be flicked... At least Dunster and Tago will be off the books next year.

Why do merkins insist on repeating this untruth. Ryles wanted Galvin. He probably wants other players we can't get. Few coaches, if any, have all the players they want.

The truth is he gets the players he wants out of what he can get not the players BA or the previous coaching staff wanted or brought through...

Are you assuming that the club will actually sign the players he wants and enable the statement, his team. As a club we haven’t signed more than 1 or 2 decent nrl players in any off season under this regime. Hope we do, but when they couldn’t nail a 5/8 whose father and player manager told him to sign with Parra, big ask.
