Sack Flanagan

We beat the Broncos too.
The club wanted Ryles and he turned us down.
All well and good to want Flanagan replaced but until the club has a clear cut better replacement lined up why drown ourselves in contract payouts. Who is your coach that is unequivocally better than Flanagan and is willing to sign with us?
We beat the Broncos way back when we were still playing for something and the broncos were out of form. The eels best them with nothing to play for as I said and the broncos were in much better form, at the same time we dished up the crap we dished up tonight, says it all about both teams doesn't it?

Go back and read my posts if you're interested in the direction I think the club should take relating to coaching. To be frank I think most coaches out there could do better when we're looking at the shit house win loss record of 33% this season which will likely get worse from here, if you believe we've got a top line coach who shouldn't or can't be replaced, more fool you.

Flanagan was delusional in his presser tonight saying 'my word our season is still alive' when the week before he is blowing up saying the ref calls could cost us finals.

He has lost the plot.

Does anyone know why he keeps wearing his dragons cap each week for the last two weeks, even in the press conference he is still wearing it?
Did he get run over by the lawn mower or is he planning a trip to Turkey in the off season to get some new seeds?

Also sick of hearing him say 'AAAHHHHRRRMMMM' during each press conference, no public speaking ability or charisma whatsoever.

He is a dead set gronk and he needs to be sacked.

We've lost 4 games in a row in ridiculous fashion and are having one of our worst three seasons in 15 years, do you blame me?

You might not see it as much in that other forum (apologist echo chamber) that you're in.
Personally I think Flanno is in a world of hurt but will survive the season. He needs to land some big fish for next year and time will be ticking in the first 10-12 rounds to get it right

Flanno won’t get the bullet this year but he has his work cut out in the 1st half of 2026.
we are in a really difficult situation.. we are desperately trying to recruit for 26 or 27, as if it that wasnt hard enough... we dont even know what coach we will have in 12 months time..

I dont mind backing Flanno tbh.. I dont love his selections.. but he is better than most.. and i'd prefer him over Young for example... so I dont mind extending him for 12-24more months.. maybe some Top8 KPI's/payout-clauses built in... but chances are we wont do that.. we will probably sit on our hands as is the dragons way...and give him 1 last crack in the first half of 2026.

Its not really a good way to manage coaches though, short contracts and have them thinking short-term for their entire tenure... thats on us.. we just have to be really careful we dont blow up 2026 prematurely like we did in Griffins final year.

I dont like any of these options..

You’re probably right mate. What pissed me off was Nick was 18th man again. I know you can’t pick injuries during a game but wouldn’t common sense suggest having him on the bench, can cover 2nd row, lock and centre if shit happens which unfortunately did tonight with JDB then Su’a. Lawrie!! f**k me, 23 mins game time and that’s it. Common sense would have been Nick in and Lawrie out.

Flanagan hasn't used the full 8 interchanges since round 15 v the Sharks, absolute rubbish use of the bench.

It’s not that I don’t see it, I just don’t ram it down people’s throats 24/7. When Griffin got the arse I wanted Madge as our next coach. I’m far from Flanno’s number 1 supporter

Why should we give him 10 rounds next year to see the same crap?
We are slipping down the ladder very fast
But if our goal is only to give him a free holiday to Vegas tHan we should keep him

Griffin at least got us to a measly shit 10th in his second season.
Where do people think we will end up in another6 rounds ?
Or maybe we should just extend Flano now cause our shit results this year, like last year and the same crap next year don’t count for Flanos record yet because lots of people in here think DY is the current head coach and Flano won’t officially start coaching this team till after his well deserved extension.

Emotion and frustration aside, do we think Flanno is any chance of being punted at the end of the season?

No.
SFlanno is the one having to face the scrutiny by everyone. How long before he gives in and quits? All too hard. Incompetent corporate structure etc etc. Why should he be the public face whilst the guilty are well hidden? Why put himself under the stress?

I still have faith in him.

Hey @Dragonslayer just another loss tonight but who cares, it's not a competitive sport, they're playing for fun out there and win/loss ratios are just myopic at best.
Hope you took some heart out of tonight like the rest of us loyal fans, definitely not on Flanagan's coaching at all this loss or any others

😂😂😂😂

As others have pointed out already, and referring back to my post last week, Flanagan won't be replaced and will be HC in '26. Whether or not he gets an extension or is told he won't be HC in '27 won't be made until after Origin '26.
Again, I will say Flanagan has made mistakes, and i believe 1 was made last night in not including NT on the bench.

So, my question to you is "what are the roles and responsibilities of the assistant coaches?"

I made the point that NT was not selected for the bench.

With so many injuries, it's challenging to field your best team. But the 17 position should be reserved for a player who can handle the back row and center position very well.

Flannagan's recruitment is a massive failure
I suspect it came with terms that have frustrated his ability to do well:
1. Dean Young must be one of your assistant coaches.
2. Our Recruitment Manager is not available, so you will need to handle this until we sort that out.
3. Our GM Football (Haran) has secured extensions for key players Lawrie, Ravalawa, and Hunt.

Answer sorry to Ricky Stuart who wants us to fail anyway, flannos son is nothing but a cup player at best. On those fifth tackle plays he did zero
Yes, and if our new recruitment manager can address key issues, we may see a dramatic improvement.

We do have some really good juniors coming through. What we need is to recrit 3 marquee players in the following positions to be a top 4 side:
A marquee fullback (Gutherson to center).
A marquee halfback (to fill to spot until Reed is ready).
A marquee prop to lead our talented young forwards.

Yes, spine positions. No wonder we are struggling; we have holes in our spine. In fact we have no spine.
