If we let Laurie walk and don't sign a replacement, who do we play if Edwards goes down? Edgar and Attard are not ready for more than a cup of tea. If one of them was the plan B for 2026 surely they'd be playing fullback every week in Cup right now. Sione Fonua would probably be our best option if he's signed for next year, not sure, if not its probably Jesse McLean or throwing a kid into the most important position in our system.

You let Laurie & Kepaoa walk and you can run a backline of Attard/Edgar, Staines, Alamoti, Fale, McLean and Patea gets call ups.

I don't know about Cole, seems like a body who can't mix it in NRL.. he has been around along time now.. Players like To'o, Luai or even Casey McLean after a slow start have thrive right away. Too many injuries
I think Jack Cole has ability, perhaps he emerged at the wrong time, maybe the recruitment of Blaize Talagi was his downfall I don’t know. I don’t believe it is his body, he didn’t seize the opportunities that were afforded do him, he just didn’t nail them And as a consequence he is stuck in NSW Cup.

Edward’s has been amazing post origin thats the first thing that needs to be said.

Second thing is we don’t yet know what our intentions are around Daine Laurie he should be given another year in order to allow Edgar and Attard time to continue there development, both have been injury prone themselves this season sadly.

Sione Fonua has only just come back from injury and Jesse McLean just doesnt do enough to convince he is NRL standard.

The bottom line is the future as regard our outside backs is with Flegg and Ball. The current options in NSW Cup has not delivered the performances on a consistent basis to be persuasive they may be NRL options

Kepaoa has scored at will in NSW Cup and he is probable the one who should be retained as backup.

I believe Laurie has done well enough to deserve at least another 12-24 months. I don't think his contract is huge, and he does a fair impression of Edwards when he needs to.

Since we are talking back-ups. Who should be Cleary's next-season?

Would you like Schneider to be retained?

Is Toelau a realistic option?

Or is there a cheap unsigned half at another club you would like to see here?

Honestly until a junior is demanding the spot Schneider is fine as just a 7 back up. He gets through it and would be cheap.
Most are happy with Schneider and most realise he is NOT Nathan and most also see we play slightly differently when Schneider is on the field, be it in the halves or at dummy half.

He does what is expected of his ability, and most would understand that Ivan knows what he is capable of.

It's super frustrating reading about the bloke being in line for the guillotine because he's perceived not up to standard. He's proven at our club with minimal failure and doesn't do it with much flair, but the job is usually done whether he starts or sits the bench.

His role is backup half and we've won comps with the last 3 backup halves. If he resigned, I for one won't be disappointed.

I don't rate him at all but you cant have stars as your back up. The salary cap would never allow it. He's the perfect guy for the job really.

The funniest part of the Schneider hate is the deluded notion that SOS or Cogger were any better. Both just played in stronger sides while here.

Hey I just backed him. Even you admit he's really just good as a back up. Though that knights game was f**ked he forgot how to do the one things hes goated at.

Jock Madden is back at the Tigers 2026. So rule him out.

Tanah Boyd I'd take a stab at. Born in Penrith, his Dad played for the club too.

I also think Tanah is a bit too good for reserve grade but not yet a reliable first grade half. But plenty of potential. We could turn him into something.

Schneider, SOS and Cogger are all the same, not good enough to hold down a starting spot in the halves, and that's really what our 14 is going to be. I just wish we could find one decent enough at 9 for a regular 20 minutes.

Boyd is contracted until end of 26 says the internet, for sure I'd take him if it were possible.

See how Blaize just walked in and grew... Jack had nothing .. I still believe his best position is 14

Blaize plus the defensive error efforts is why we have changed 1st in the last 10 weeks

This isnt really true tho is it. Blaize was struggling while the team was playing shit just as much as cole. As the team imrproved from last position so did Blaize.

Now Blaize is obviosuly the guy for us but Cole being very harshly judged by some here. He shows plenty enough in cup and for anyone who is silly enough to think a nrl level player should dominate weekly in cup please explain why Alamoti looks so good in NRL but then doesnt tear up nsw cup every week? He has done it once since being dropped.
