Weirdly, Souths props probably outplayed the Brisbane middles. Possession was pretty even, completions close.

They just could not defend anything at all and conceded a thousand line breaks
I take it you weren't paying much attention to Sean Keppie

Jai Arrow was immense though

We are just a squad with little to no athleticism - fully fit or no

It's even weirder cos I was and he looked predictably shit but still churned out work.

I don't think either pack was very good tbh. But it's just a weird stat to look at when the side that lost by 50 is comparable to or even slightly better than the winning middle

Also how long before souths sack solly

He’s ruined the club under his watch

If this continues they have the potential to become joint venture esque in terms of long term rabble

Factor in the wreckage Wayne usually leaves when he walks away from a club and this shitshow is likely to get even worse before it gets better.

You’re happy with the lower grade talent currently coming through your grades?
They f**d up for a number of years but have started to get it back on track. HM's and SG Ball had very good seasons. Flegg is suffering from those years of neglect. NSW Cup reason is obvious- they're all in first grade. Most of our cup are actual A graders at this point.

You just need to keep Wayne completely out of it. The Knights stupidly gave him free rein to make decisions on how the pathways should be run and he ran it into the ground.

I think the issue is more that the lower grade talent isn't playing in the lower grades? If they've got the NSW Cup team in first grade who do you think is playing NSW Cup and down the grades

Souffs lower grades have sucked for awhile now. Souffs recruitment has sucked for awhile now. Their “stars” are all getting to the backend of their careers.

Souffs can’t blame their current injury crisis on the shyte performances in NSW Cup and Flegg this season. What a crock of shyte.

I’ll give you that about the HM and SG Ball teams.

No one did.

They can blame their current lower grade results on their injury crisis though. That was the rather obvious point

I stated that from the outset which prompted the unnecessary question that had already been pre-emptively answered. The very opposite circumstance to begging the question yet he asks it anyway. This guy just wants to shit talk. Just smooth brained bait.

It's very obvious the squad needs an overhaul because Wayne has inherited the stalled squad management that Demetriou thought was a good idea. After his 1st season in charge in 2022 when he took the Grand Finalist team that Wayne had left him to a prelim, he (and the rest of the genius R&R team) had the brilliant idea that Souths were going so well that we didn't need to recruit hardly any new players and just save our gun powder - while rivals all looked to improve. We were leading the comp halfway through 2023 and they were feeling vindicated before the wheels fell off spectacularly and we have crashed and burned since.

Wayne managed a few late recruitment alterations for this season but it's still not really his squad until he takes the scalpel to it now that he can. He needs to create as much free cap space as possible, hence the Dodd treatment in my opinion. (He kicked okay but he fell off a few tackles that led to tries in that second half - not alone there mind you.)

The worst injury crisis in modern memory has also played a role no intelligent person can deny and of course, I mean duh, it filters down to the lower grades.

*We've managed to pinch a good young halfback from a reserve grade side that is doing well despite that club's 1st grade side still sucking. :)

Why keep Walker he’s well past it

Reynolds would’ve loved half the chances he’s had to stay and he’s a very up and down player at the best of times

Souths looked good at the start of the year even if they get the spoon

p.s. winning in lower grades isn't as important as developing young players to become successful in 1st grade. Souths won the NSW cup comp in 2023 and it didn't really translate into 1st grade success. The Dragons are doing great in Cup this year but no so much in 1sts although they look like bringing through a handful of guns like Egan, Stewart, and others so that's what it's all about. Not so much results in those lower grades which sometimes but don't always translate to 1st grade success.
