Promoting from within always works so well. That's why there are so many examples of it being a success and none of it failing terribly.

This feels very much like Rick Stone the second time around.

Blake Green will be sacked and coaching Huddersfield by the start of 2027.

We average a coach about every 3 years.
However it is exaggerated as several of those were interim efforts.
what is a safe coach contract? I like 3 years, but at 2 years with a third year club option. Which is why I would never get a job working for Isaac Moses.

My point was it's not really a good enough excuse for this year. We were garbage before the injuries. We probably looked best right after the injuries actually, like we thought oh no we have to try now.

Yes our depth sucks but AOB certainly did not get the best out of them like other coaches would and have done this year.
Yes! Preach!

Aside from all this though, I'm not sure where I stand on Blake Green being our next coach. Seems like a dumb f**king move from the outside look in. This guy has been implementing the worst attack in recent memory. More nepotism? More jobs for the boys?

AOB specifically talked in his presser about how he got mugged off by the reality of a lot of head coaching stuff he wasn't prepared for as a career assistant. Interesting comment.

Anything interesting from the press conference

just at work atm so won’t be able to listen to it till later
Nothing interesting but handled very well.
O’Brien saying he was basically out of ideas to get the team up and wanted to give the team a chance for someone new.
Adam went to the club.
I always had hope Adam would be the coach to lead us to another title but it wasn’t to be. It’s the right time to make changes and I’m glad it’s been handled as respectfully as it has, not the usual basket case look.

I don't have a lot of respect for O'Briens coaching, but I respect the guy a lot as a person for doing what our club didn't have the stones to do. Thanks for having more ambition for our team and hunger for success than the people running the club, Adam. Never questioned your effort or work ethic - and I won't question your character either.

Credit to AOB. I will be thankful for the fun ride he provided in 2023 and how he made us a respectful defensive team.

I’m so on the fence about Blake Green. He’s been here the last few years with AOB, so how much has he assisted and what are his ideas? I also fear he is the players favorite choice. We need someone to ruffle feathers a bit.

I know we have the Arthur boys but Brad Arthur has some great results, I would like if we looked at him. I also think I’d prefer McDermott to Green at this stage. I’d like to look at John Morris and Justin Holbrook. Dean Young apparently is keen on head coaching, I just don’t know if I want another rookie coach who isn’t prepared to all things thrown at them. Willie Peters seems to be turning everything he touches to gold.

I think my pick is Brad Arthur’s. Took Parra from the bottom to a real contender. Has history with Brown and his boys. Won’t take a backward step.

He was too close to the microphone and breathes in very, very loudly.

Other than that it was a decent conference. He obviously has a passion for the town and club and is disappointed things didn't go the way anyone wanted

I just reckon he's a genuine bloke but it was time to admit he couldn't do anything with the team and would be unlikely to be able to do anything positive in the future.
