That was a pathetic interview from Hunt especially the references when he says that the Dragons let hm down bit. They gave him the keys to the castle, and he screwed them backwards, if anything he let them down. They brought in his mate as coach, his other mates from Qld and Maguire, Norman, McCullough etc and that led to more years of pain. As soon as he did not get his way he threw the toys out of the cot.

All he liked about the Dragons was the money more or less as he said it helped set up his life. What an absolute tosser.
Agree 💯 the guys a tosser and thank the F**K he is gone ........ Complete SOOK .......

I thought Hunt was pretty respectful in the interview tbh.. he mostly said he would do the same thing again (i.e. come here) given the chance, no pot shots.. he did say he was probably a little let down in some way with his time here, but wasnt a shot, was more answering loaded questions.. its all good imo.. glad hes gone and everyone can move on..

I was never a Hunt fan especially in his last few seasons here but to be honest Hunt is a little entitled to feel like the Dragons let him down. Terrible recruitment and idiotic coaching appointments by the board made during his time left him halfback in 2023 of easily the most insipid Dragons team I've ever seen in my time following the red V.
There's obviously blame on both sides - he was a soulless captain and in no way a truly marquee halfback but apart from 2018 - he was the best player (and one of the only true NRL quality players) in a pathetic rabble of a squad. In some ways he was set up to fail.
Didn't help himself during the Griffin era but he is entitled to feel like he was carrying the team sometimes.
I just wish Flanno had taken his lumps one year earlier and let Hunt walk one year earlier - we might have been able to get a decent half for '25 instead of not having even one decent halfback option at the club. Funnily enough I think we scrape into the 8 if Hunt was playing this year. He probabaly would have made a difference in those close games.

When Hunt joined the team, it was coming along nicely with Widdop running the show. Benji did ok and the made a finals with him last until the Dogs took him out in the finals game with that sickening tackle from Tolman I think. Corey Norman then joined as Widdop was moved on (jeez, I am sure Hunt would have been happy with that appointment and not let down) and then the JDB saga hit, and it went south. BBQ gate followed which was under Hooks watch which showed how poorly disciplined they team was. The worst seasons that Hunt endured in the red V were from then and he had a big say in recruitment seeing mostly his mates joined. If it were for Hunt, Hook would have stayed as he wanted him there more. The relationship soured more or less from then. I don't think Flanno or any other coach would have swayed Hunt to stay or play at his best. His decision was made as soon as Hook was, well, Hooked. Ah, now I know why he got the name. That is where I feel he mostly feels let down, the fact they sacked his buddy. Apart from that it was all on his own bat.

If you do a timeline of when Hunt started to when he left you will see it was heading north up until Norman joined, then Hook. That interview was all about Hunt's love affair with the Bronco's and his torment playing for the red V. Poor Ben can finally win a comp with his beloved Broncos now that he left the hopeless Dragons who were never a hope in winning a comp. Poor Ben.

The best coaches say, if a player is only coming for money then don't expect too much. One of the best Liverpool managers used to get involved in recruitment in the end and as soon as the player asked about money, he turned off them no matter how good they were. That is what Saints should have done as it was clear he joined only for the money.

Bunt was an absolute disaster. Compounded by Corey Norman, then Hook, then the conga line of QLD semi-retirees. WTF?
Thank god they’ve all fkd off!
He feels let down …. FFS!
He’s always been ridiculously overrated IMO.
Widdop made him look half decent for a couple of years. That’s the sum total of it.

In his 7 years with us, I dont remember him making a difference in a close games. There was the one at WIN Stadium against the Raiders where he controversially killed time and we held on to Win by 2 points. Other than that......can't remember another. I remember a lot of close games where he shit the bed and we lost. The most famous was the semi vs Souths where Reynolds schooled him.

Agreed he was never good at close games. But as much as I don't like the guy there's no doubt we would have been a better team and had an objectively better hafback if he was in the team this year. Remember some of those games we lost that we were up by 12 points - at least 3 this year. I think we win all 3 of those with Bunt in the team. Probably the last Warriors game too when we had a mountain of possession in the second half.
To repeat I'm not a Hunt fan at all but I think we win at least 4 more games this year if he's the halfback.

Hunt provided some great moments, but the way he ended his time at Saints was horrendous. It was a total disrespect to the club's brand and especially the fans. Especially some of the stuff he said to the press. For a captain it was completely uncalled for and he should have handled it better. Lomax did the same that is leave the club annoyed at what was happening behind closed doors, but during his time at Saints he respected the fans and gave it 110% every game. I see no difference in his attitude at Parra to his attitude in the red V in his final season.

If anything that latest interview from Hunt, continued his damaging of the St George Illawarra brand saying it was a bad decision he made and he more or less only went for the money.

Our alpha prop signing should be Nelson Asofa-Solomona. If Tino wants to go back to Storm they'll need to free cap space and Nelson would be let go. I'd like us to also get Khan-Pereira. Very fast and an amazing finisher. Looks like Titans don't want him. Add them with Atkinson and Kerr and we look like a top 8 team.

I respect your opinion, but I never saw Hunt win us a close game in all his years here.

You might have gone off early on NAS. That game last night was horrendous.
