Rest the lot again

I think id do this too.

Boys would know they have 4 weeks to bust their guts out place players like marto, yeo, dyl, nath and bizza could do with the rest..

Its a nothing game really with a finals spot locked in.

The reality is if we want to win the comp we need to beat whoever we get and i dont care who or how it falls..

I would wait to see how this round plays out before making the decision. I really wouldn't like to end up 8th and play a 5th place Broncos in Brisbane for instance - or make a trip to NZ and accrue extra travel fatigue which would partially defeat the purpose of our resting in the 1st place.

It'll be 4 interstate/overseas teams in the finals (If you include Canberra).

Running ladder predictor earlier this week there is a chance we play 3 in a row outside of Sydney.

True, which is why I think playing for a possible 6th is worth it. Depends on where the chips fall during the rest of this weekend.

With Trent Teolau in for Brad Schneider. Then we effectively have the same team that beat Manly in the pre-season.

Need someone in for Luke Sommerton too. I guess Edgar into the 17 and find a new 18th man.

edit
Actually Toelau must be injured. Don't see him named anywhere.

Edgar to fullback. Daine Laurie to halfback. Find a new 18th man. I wouldn't even give that to Schneider on the off chance we have to activate him.

Agree avoiding the Wahs or Broncs in week one would be preferable solely due to the travel. Broncs play on Thurs, Wahs & Chooks on Fri and we should have a good idea by Friday evening what the Dogs are doing as well and whether the Sharks will get a walkover.

Either way I'd definitely give the guys who have obviously been carrying injuries all year another week off. Edwards, To'o and Martin namely. Cleary, Yeo & Kenny maybe.

If I am Ivan, I am doubling down with some more mass restings this week.

I'd definitely rest Dylan, Brian, Casey, Blaize, Leota, Kenny, Larry, Martin & Garner. If Jenkins is locked in, then him too.

Because they need the game time, I'd play half games for Nathan, Yeo (unless his injury is worse than suggested), Papalii & Patea.

Also need to finalise who our #14 will be so would give Laurie, Cole, Alamoti & if need be, Schneider, key practice in this final run under game conditions. Pity Sommerton will be out as would've liked to have tested him as well. Perhaps Soni is a chance after all!?

No doubt run the risk of losing conditioning with some players having such a long rest but will assume the training leading up to the finals has already been adjusted to be at optimum levels in readiness for 4x high intensity matches.

It will be fascinating to see which way Ivan leans but will at least know other results in advance. We wont fear any of the options but just need to ensure there is enough left in the tank for the entire finals campaign & so travelling to NZ might be a key consideration. Nothing like another challenge to motivate the boys!

Potentially 5 if the Dolphins somehow sneak into 8th.

Would that be a record? We'd only have three Sydney teams in the finals (Penrith, Sharks and Dogs).

Are Panthers a Sydney team or are they a Penrith team.
In the early years of the Panthers existence, the other 11 clubs (barring Parra), used to more than often, complain that it was way to far to travel all the way to Penrith.
It was one of the arguments against Penrith being admitted to the first division of the NSWRL by some established clubs.
And then we were the whipping boys, just making up the numbers, until something happened in 1991.

Now the complaints are deafening...

I'd rest them all again,Give the cup boys another chance to impress in case we get injuries or suspension in the finals. This game doesn't mean anything apart from who we prefer to play week 1.I definitely wouldn't be risking Edwards too talagi cleary yeo martin kenny leota

I don’t like the disregard for this game. I want them to beat the Dragons which they would do if they pick a half decent team. I can’t see them winning 4 straight finals after losing the last 4 regular season games. It’s also hard for me to conceive of a team who wins just 12 regular season games winning a comp. If any other team I’d actually be against such a side winning it.
