Epic crowd for a competitive first half and then a blow out in the second after Humphreys got binned. Put a bit of a dampener on things unfortunately.

That could be crowd of the year, wow.

Fantastic crowd no doubt, but I would give crowd of the year to the all time record crowd for a standalone regular season game (65,305 for Canterbury vs South Sydney at Accor on Good Friday), closely followed by the second highest all time crowd for a standalone regular season game (59,878 for Canterbury vs Parramatta at Accor on King’s Birthday).

Those two crowds broke new ground for the sport this year.

Probably a good idea going forward if people list the source for their crowd. Several incorrect figures have gone around across all three games so far this round.

Only need to mention the source (outlet, broadcaster, or at the ground), link generally not required. If the latter and you have a pic of the big screen - by all means post it too.

For example, this guy:

I will blame a bit of dyslexia and fat fingers on my phone screen and being sandwiched between lots of people on the upper level, i knew when i posted it i got the figure round the wrong way but wanted to still watch the game instead of my phone screen.

Here's some fun facts after tonight's Roosters v Rabbitohs crowd (41,604):

1. It is the largest sporting crowd of any code at the new Allianz this year, better even than Roosters vs Dragons on ANZAC Day (41,021), Waratahs vs Lions (40,568), and Sydney FC vs Wrexham (40,242)
2. It is the second highest sporting crowd ever at the new Allianz, behind only the first game at the new Allianz in 2022 (41,906 for the Roosters vs Rabbitohs)
3. It is the third highest regular season crowd between the Roosters and the Rabbitohs in the past 50 years, bested only by 59,708 at Accor in 2013, and 41,906 at the new Allianz in 2022
4. It is the fourth highest rugby league crowd in Sydney this year, behind State of Origin Game 3 (80,256), Good Friday (65,305) and King's Birthday (59,878)
5. It is the eighth highest sporting crowd in Sydney this year, and means the AFL now has none of the top ten crowds in Sydney this year (Rugby League has 5, Cricket has 3 and Rugby Union has 2).

Another two top 10 Sydney crowds to come with the Dogs final week 2or 3 and the GF

And also shows that we need way more games at Allianz. We need Souths and Saints there and continue to build the indigenous round there as a mini magic round.

Firing roosters, souths and dragons could be aiming for 30k averages there in time.

Back 10 years ago I was firmly in the never move from Kogarah camp. Now I have kids I drive down to the Gong (and have a season membership there) but haven't taken the kids to Kogarah. I'd absolutely go into Allianz to watch us play.

Keep 3 or 4 games at Kogarah and more 2 or 3 to Allianz. This year could have moved dogs and roosters games and got far more than 16k and 13k.

Moving 2-3 games to Allianz for a couple years is a good start but id go so far as moving all Sydney games to Allianz bar 1 token game at Kogarah during heritage round against Titans. This will be an 18k sellout.

Then play 4 more Sydney games at Allianz: Souths, Roosters. Dogs, Cronulla. Could aim to average 30k for these.

The rest at WIN. Let’s say we have a 15k average for these games.

Given above Dragons would average 20k for the season. A lot better than our 12.5k this season.

Play a couple standalone NRLW dragons games at Kogarah on a Sunday afternoon and these will draw a crowd too.
