Ilias and Kyle are too good for seconds but not good enough as starting halves unless you have a gun 5/8. They are back ups when your star half is out injured or on rep duty.

I have a laugh when Penrith supporters say the Brad Schneider is useless. When you have a generational talent like Cleary as your half, no decent halfback is going to play reserves hoping for 1 or 2 games a year. The backup is going to be average at best and you just hope you don't have to use him.

Watching Eels play…. they have nothing to really play for but putting on a masterclass against weak opposition. Have to say they are far faradvanced on our mob… in effort, motivation, skills etc.
Eels and Dolphins having field days, showing how to give your fans a thank you to end the year.

Our team could not be bothered.
Our coach just says it's because Holmes is unavailable.

Even the two teams under us, as miserable as they have been, have opted to get a better coach.

Let’s not forget Eels are playing knights and we played the panthers, and Mitch Moses is quality
Wow, you are quite the sleuth!

Exactly.
Panthers have Cleary.
Eels have Moses.
We have Flanagan.

And that is supposed to be acceptable 2 years into Shane's tenure?

Sign Campbell or Sandon Smith or it's more misery.
Make things happen or we will continue to suffer.

The problem is everyone is expecting Kade Reed to be a star and do not want to lock in an established half for fear of blocking his pathway…. you’re damned if you do. Or damned if you don’t…. The club is gambling big time expecting him to be our next big star in a couple of years.. son the meantime we wait

Reed can be our back up.
We didn't want to keep Glover, rightly or wrongly but no way am I accepting Reed (how old is he, 14?) or Flanagan in 7 next year. We've been told we are after half back - I'd like to see Campbell or Smith recruited to play alongside Atkinson (Reed, Kyle, LKT all make excellent back ups)

I dont think we were ready for Ryles when he interviewed with us.. I reckon if he came today, with Tim as CEO and Ando in Recruitment.. I reckon were up for the sort of speed/agility change he was after.. but its taken over 2yrs for us to finally snap out of our complacent slumber (at least I hope we have).

In hindsight Reed+Glover might have been the best halves combo in the NSW Cup next year (ok there are others but it would have been very classy), but its also possible LKT or Ilias or Kyle or another might end up partnering Reed for 2026.. but Reed is the Cup 7 now.. we have been super cautious with him so far.. noting that his old halves partner in Toby Rodwell already has 14 cup games under his belt now.. Reed has 1... and his other SG Ball partner in LKT is years ahead.

I think when Glover signed elsewhere we were chasing that 'marquee 7' also, which would have forced someone down to cup.. but that didnt work out I assume.. but the off-season isnt over either..

I dunno where all this lands, we have a young 6 in LKT, we have a young 7 in Reed, we wont be signing any more 'young halves' +/- 2yrs of them.. if we sign anyone else itll be either a proper 1st grade half... or itll be someone like Douehi who covered multiple positions.. and im sure we r frustrated that particular signing didnt come off.

Ex Scumulla Coach / St Merger Trash / Another useless CEO extending Flanagan contract, what else would you expect?

I was at this game with mates, Knights were not even trying and clearly were getting ready for Mad Monday, laughing and doing their breathing exercises behind the posts. They also lost the fullback and halfback in the first half. great win for the Eels but hardly shows they are way ahead of anyone so lets not get too carried away.
