Posts like To-o's are what you write in a group chat not what you post online. He is a f**king moron, not for saying it but to not learn to keep this shit offline. I really wish the nrl would start fining anyone who posts dumb shit online. In the long run it will benefit everyone.
I’m pretty sure the panthers would have told their players many times about it, especially after Tyrone where it destroyed his NRL career.
But Brian didn’t give it a second thought.
From the language Too uses it appears he is completely unaware that he is encouraging certain males beliefs, that domestic violence inflicted on women is ok and that the death of at least one woman a week in Oz, thats caused by domestic violence is ok too...either Tooa can’t read and doesn’t listen to the news (he may only hear it) or the belittling of woman and resulting violence inflicted on women is so ingrained in the culture he orbits and perhaps has been propagated through generations of his family that those stats don’t mean shit to him..So where’s the mandatory course, to at the very least placate the women fans of the game. Without something of that nature to at least move the dial, the NRL are indicating they don’t give a shit either..instead Toa’s ignorant words and likely consequences for a lot of adoring young males, can be quietly swept under the carpet because we got finals to worry about.. The final series is massive money for the NRL.. you see,the panthers and Too, god help us, could win it..(tho I very much doubt it)
Go the Sharks
Yes, there’s a sub group of males that find comfort in demeaning and denigrating women and Brian’s stuff just reinforces their bad views.
DV definitely has its full share of these nonces.
There’s an inference of disrespect enveloping a sense of power over the women, where none exists.
Brian had zero insight into the potential indirect social implications of his joke.
The leagues response to it is to ignore it when the rest of the community is appalled.
The Panthers fail the game yet again on this issue.
If they were serious, he should have been stood down for a match. But we can’t have that.
Our game lacks leadership as the response was to ignore and therefore to tolerate.
