I mentioned in a previous post that I was blown away with how the Sharks accounted for the Bulldogs 2 weeks ago. Prior to that I didn’t really rate them. But the injury to McInnes seems to have galvanised (sorry) their forward pack. That in addition to the return of Iro has made them a much more formidable opposition.

I love what the Raiders bring to the NRL. A breath of fresh air and the possibility of a changing of the guard. As a neutral I would like to see them win the comp. But this match is going to be a challenge. The last time they met the Raiders performed a Houdini act with probably the try of the year. But defence wasn’t a top priority in that match. Since then the Sharks’ defence has improved a lot.

A left attacking edge of Iro and Mulitalo spells danger. Stuart is a very good defender and knows how to back off and make good defensive decisions. To an extent the Savage/Timoko edge problem was partially addressed with Stuart’s inclusion but now it’s the corridor between Fogarty and Timoko that may be problematic.

If Hazelton plays and Hynes leaves the keys to Trindall the Sharks have a good chance. But who knows what Gee will do.

Sharks by 6
Tries to Iro /Mulitalo/Ramien
A meat pie to Strange

But I wouldn’t be surprised if Gee gets the Raiders home after the refereeing controversies of last week.

Yes and no. It's not our strongest wing.

But it took 17 errors and Brisbane with 57% possession, 12 more sets with the ball and raiders winning at the final whistle twice only to be called back for Brisbane to just finally crack it enough to get home. If that edge was really shot then brisbane should win by 20 with their attack and those numbers in any game.

If we complete at 80% then the fatigue on that edge isn't there and it holds up ok.

While we're trading whataboutisms, I'd like to apply the Paul McGregor logic.

2 Raiders tries from kicks - don't count, so -12 points.
1 runaway try off an error/intercept - doesn't count, so -6 points.
1 try against 11 men - doesn't count, so -6 points.

Therefore: Broncos 28 (remove FG) v Raiders 4

Disclaimer: This is clearly a shitpost lol

I reckon Abdo would "be comfortable" if the official records were changed to reflect the new, correct scoreline.

I mean I still wake up at night wondering if the final, final, really really final whistle has gone or if it's just gonna blow and somehow make things even worse. Again. So pretty sure the bunker can give your desired updates right up until kick off this week.

I'd love to see the Raiders regroup, win this game then power through to eventual premiership glory in 2 weeks time, BUT honestly I see whoever wins this being smashed by a rested Storm team next weekend.
