If he was Ron Massey Cup level he wouldn't have played so well in reserve grade. Then he wouldn't have played any first grade or picked up a foreign player slot in the UK. Ron Massey Cup is for players too old for Flegg but not ready to retire. They don't get pro contracts in Australia or the UK. They have day jobs instead.

He might never be a first grader but he is far above RM Cup level. Beau Newlands is someone who is Ron Massey Cup level; a backup for the NSW Cup team.

The eye test counts, but three NRL clubs and now a Super League club are better at it than a bunch of slobs on the internet. You might as well look at stats rather than trust your own ability to judge talent. At least the stats are objective.
