No but you don't understand Brisbane needs a 62,000 seat stadium for a side currently in dynasty that can't fill it's much smaller stadium!
Haven’t won a comp in 20 years and average close to 80 percent ground capacity with big games selling out

Let alone origin magic or finals ?

What happens next year if they win next week ?

Let alone population growth up there up to and after the Olympics

The ‘G is unavailable on Anzac Day due to the Essendon/Collingwood game, but Marvel would be available.

It would be in the oval configuration in April as other AFL games would like be played there over that weekend.

The discussion back in April was moving the Storm/Warriors game (that wasn’t on Anzac Day this year) to the MCG during the April school holidays when the AFL is out of town for “Gather Round”.

Ideally the Storm would be using a rectangular Marvel rather than an oval configuration @ either the G or Marvel, but that would have to involve longer term discussions—- for example—- Storm playing a Marvel home game the same weekend as the Vegas R1 matches OR in Round 27 after the AFL is done with Marvel for the season
The AFL would not allow the stands to be brought in for a game only a week or two before the AFL season, or at any time during the AFL season. It is not used for AFL finals, so the last weekend in August would be the first opportunity.

He’s talking about the Lions. They won’t fill a 62,000 seat stadium, they don’t fill their current one.

I’m not going to quote anyone but taking big games to oval stadiums is the best way to tell governments that multi purpose stadiums are the way to go. If it’s good enough for SOO, if it’s good enough for the broncos, storm, warriors, Perth to play their finals games at ovals then what’s wrong with MPS?

Thats exactly the argument the Canberra government is waiting to make, we can make an oval to attract an AFL team and it’s more than fine for rectangle sports to play on, win win.

I’m afraid you’re right on the above. The Canberra situation will be a watershed moment.

We’re giving ammo to governments already that they can make big ovals and get big rectangular events like origin and internationals. What impetus do they have on making anything other than small 20-30k rectangular grounds, and in smaller cities like Canberra you can bet an argument will be made to build a 25k oval suitable for whatever fumble team plays there and the raiders.

Oval stadiums are a total blight for our sport and we shouldn’t encourage them.

Unfortunately politicians and the general public from ACT,Vic,SA and WA seem to think that oval stadiums are perfectly suited for Rugby League.

It would actually be beneficial for RL, RU and soccer if we had a serious crack at landing a men’s soccer World Cup. FIFA’s stadium requirements would get our politicians to sink some real money into rectangular stadiums.

Cracking Up Lol GIF

They tried to bribe as many people as they could 2 or 3 world cups ago and got 1 measly vote. They don't have to money to throw around like these other nations.

It’ll probably never happen, but if it did could get good results for our rectangular stadiums around the country.
