Looking forward to the Ashes. Feels like a while since the last series which had a lot of feeling in that 2nd test. No doubt the England players will cop it.

Its a shame Bairstow isnt coming out but your right there going to cop it.

The BS carry on and moral victory nonsense.

Still pissed off we didnt win that series and still haven't over there since 2001.

I was on the bus going from Split to Dubrovnik in Croatia when the Lords test went crazy with the Bairstow dismissal.

Having not seen it i didnt realise how big a moment that was. Especially when your partying up for a few nights on tour in Dubrovnik

I even heard how it dominated the news cycle back in Australia for a few days.

By the time I got to the UK and Manchester for the 4th test they were frothing at the mouth.

The Aussies were copping it deluxe in the crowd and watching Zak Crawley flogging us around Old Trafford didn't help the mood.

Funny thing was I went up to Edinburgh and was doing a lochness tour in the Scottish highlands for day 5 of that test. Sun was out and not a rain drop in sight while it was pissing down in Manchester for a draw.

I didnt feel sorry for them one bit in fact I went back to a pub in Edinburgh and had a few whiskeys to celebrate the occasion.

that kid Indian is a good one. 14 and just got a 100 in India v Australia under 19s. He is probably 16 not 14 but it is still good.

I think the ashes will be closer than we think, our batting lineup is brittle but same could be said of the English bowlers

Add to that Broad, although he is supposed to be with the 7 commentary, I'm sure fans will still give it to him. The way he carried on in that test match, thats the pot calling the kettle black.

I hope we smash them 5-0

Get our preparation right will go a long way to winning the ashes comfortably

We have a scheduled 3 x ODI and 5 x T20s coming up vs India starting October 19th (at home)

1st ashes test is Nov 21

A bunch of Shield games prior the 1st ashes test

Guys like Head, Carey, Hazlewood etc ...who still play both red and white ball, id be resting them from this indian series, getting ALL test players to play at least two Shield games.

And one of the crucial things we need to get right is the top 3 batting order

Kurtis Patterson should be front runner for no3 if he continue to score early in the Shield season
Wetherald as opener an option if he gets going this season and Konstas cant

Looks a difficult pitch to bat on, rain interrupted and scores at Oranges:

Nikitaris 9 off 57
Konstas 4 off 25
Patterson 8 off 36

Cricket news 2025: Harjas Singh triple century, Western Suburbs first grade, records, video https://share.google/00r0T3donjk4fGf71
I reckon one of crickets biggest mysteries here in Australia is the lack of players with subcontinent background breaking through to the state and national sides.

With the demographics and population now changing in Western Sydney and across the country it still astounds me the lack of players with those backgrounds not breaking through.

Especially when a large majority of those kids would be playing cricket.

I would say at junior level a good 25-30% kids playing club cricket there parents are from Subcontinent backgrounds.

I suppose with only 6 state sides there aint a lot of spots available.

Atm Usman Khawaja remains the only one to have played test cricket for Australia.

Still not sure who will be the 2nd one.

Jason Sangha is probably the closest atm if he has a big shield season.

In all seriousness , give it another 10-15 years and you will see the Australian side littered with Australian born asians..

Just like NRL with Polynesians

Watching the Australia v Pakistan ODI World Cup with the girls.

Almost every Australian player was singing the national anthem and most had smiles on there faces doing it.

Maybe it shows the mentality between males & females athletes

Rugby League especially at origin time there is lucky to be 5 players from both sides singing it and it pisses me off deluxe.

I didnt pay enough attention the other night but i reckon it would have been similar numbers.

I still remember every Monday at Primary & High School we had to sing the anthem at Assembly and it reminds you how proud you should be to be an Australian.

You just don't see the same passion for it enough in team sports these days when its being played.
