And I want him on the training paddock with Munster, Walsh, Cleary, Grant, Dearden, Yeo, Strange etc

Guys like hopgood, Williams, the fox can set the standard for guys like latu and petrus to follow in the early weeks of the preseason.

I want Mitch hanging around learning and growing with the elite players of the game. As we saw last night, to get past Penrith and the storm you need to have the absolute elite players in your squad. Mitch doesn't become elite at Kellyville, he become elite in the company of the best.
Yup. Learn leadership skills. Experience playing with the qlders

I think Moses will get one game at 7. Wouldn't surprised if everyone in the squad gets game time
If cleary goes down or we get thrashed in game 1 or we thrash them in the first 2 games then he might get a run

But 5 halves.

Strange and dearden will get a run at 14. Cleary, Munster, Moses will get game time in the halves, probably dearden as well

I’d be really keen to buy an Aus jersey but honestly the fact it has Kia on it turns me off. Why they let a Korean car company to be front and centre on the Australian jersey is beyond me. Not to mention it looks cheap.

They said on SEN that Kevvie wants to take some of the players that are in the squad but not likely in the starting 17 to play in the PNG game.

They must have a solid plan for Moses.

I don’t think they’d take him to be an Emu and injury reserve, or just for one game.

his form was much stronger over the back end of the year, maybe they are considering him as a 14 over Dearden. Grant plays 80 anyway

The only other way besides an injury to Money or Cleary is

1. Money
6. Moses
7. Cleary

im sorry, my apologies sir...
No need to apologise. I was trying to illustrate a point that probably went over a lot of merkins’ heads. Players are contracted to clubs, not to coaches. And there are salary cap implications from signing players and paying them out early. There are no cap implications from sacking non-playing staff. The implication of this is that signing/keeping/sacking a coach is more likely to happen as a result of a club's decision to sign/retain/release players. As an example, consider that Broncos captain Adam Reynolds might've been the one who sold his mate Madge to the Broncos as a coaching option. Maguire didn't build this team, and neither did Kevin Walters. The team was built by the Broncos football department; the same group of men (and possibly women) who hired Walters, hired Reynolds, sacked Walters and then hired Maguire. Senior players are at least as influential as head coaches. It's a lot harder to sack them when there's a conflict anyway.

You shouldn't need to have a rebuild every 6 seasons.. If you are smart with your cap and player development/ recruitment you should be able to keep a competitive side..
Buy you need to have the right ght people at the club and money in the right places..
You say that, but I remember Gould discussing salary cap timing on Twitter, about how you can create windows where you have more player value concentrated in a few years by frontloading or backending contracts either side of that window. The phrase that stuck with me was something like 'What would you prefer, a team that makes the finals every year but is never a genuine contender, or a team that is a genuine contender some years but rebuilds in between?'

Obviously the Storm never have to rebuild, or if they do, they can still make the finals while doing so. Maybe the Broncos and Roosters are also in that boat. But everyone else seems to need to spend years in the doldrums between premiership windows. I'm keen to see if Penrith is still on the slide next year. They had four 30 year olds in this year's finals side. Next year Edwards joins that list.

Gould probably isn't the go to on building a side and contracts. Fairly sure he was paying for REG when he came to us plus a few other players.
At the Dogs he has players retiring to get them off the cap.

The riff have basically changed their first grade side bar a handful of merkins since the 2020 GF so it is possible to continue to turn over players and win. What they do with the old players will be the test and if their young kids will be ready in 2-3 years.

Rooster's probably would have been in a better position on the ladder if they had their halfback for most of the season.
Storm somehow continue to turn out players.
